Kings active in trade talks?

Just curious...why would we want to trade Jimmer for a 2nd round pick? He's finally starting to show some life, his contract is expiring anyway, and what are the odds that a 2nd round pick would produce a player better than Jimmer anyway? Most 2nd round picks end up playing in the D-League or overseas.

A second round pick today is better than nothing this summer.

They want a new identity. Jimmer is a main example of past mistakes. Looks like he will be a fixture on the end of our bench though...sucks all around.

I'm not in favor of dealing Jimmer for a 2nd rounder - but I can see the acquisition being used as part of a later or off-season trade.

The jimmer ship has sailed and is on it's way to distant shores.

PDA and Malone have more or less said that without saying it he has no future here.

No future means no minutes. Resigning him doesn't seem to be in the plans.

This trade deadline is showing how little value the team has to offer. No takers for Jimmer (for almost 0). Cleveland would trade for JT to get Jack off their books (yes, I typed "jack off") but only if they can unload him to another team, and we saw the value Thorton brought; a serial nut grabber and Bibby's older washed up cousin. No wonder Pete'D is trying to get rid of these guys from the old regime.

Why would you give up a pick for Jimmer when you can just wait and sign him in the off season? Lack of trading partners for Jimmer doesn't mean that no one wants him.

A playoff team might want him and be willing to give up that 2nd rounder for his services this year, even if it means losing him in the off season.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up only to be disappointed like so many trade deadlines in the past.. but seeing PDA so aggressive is keeping me on my toes. Last 55 minutes, here we go.

I agree but is there no chance that we/he would want to resign him over the summer?
Nah the salary would be too high. If we picked up his option it would have been about 4mil? +/- a half mil. He's not worth that. He will become unrestricted over the summer because we didn't pick up his option and he'll not resign for us at less than what we were going to pay him had we picked it up. I assume he would rather just go overseas or play at the end of the bench for some other NBA team. There is always the D-League too if a team wants to boost their attendance they can always sign him.

But if you are trying to make a
Push you would. It means he isn't valued by the league right now.
Probably accurate. The majority of playoff teams are point-guard centric and Jimmer doesn't fit that team model. Heat, Pacers and Thunder he would be marginal improvements over some of their bench guards, but probably not enough to warrant taking on his salary for the rest of the season.
