So we get cash and roger Mason, we use the cash to buy him out or waive him ? , why doesn't Miami just waive him in Miami? Maybe saves on a luxury tax calculation for Miami?

As long as it does not count against us next year for our cap I guess its ok to help out Miami for a few bucks
Yeah, it's a luxury tax thing for Miami. Miami saves $1.55M of tax by trading him to us. He'll cost us somewhere around $300K to waive.

We've helped Miami make free money out of thin air! And they're going to share some of it with us! (How much, I don't think we'll ever know.)

I was hoping jimmer to the Knicks was a possibility. He deserves better than this in my opinion. Now he rides the pine again the rest of the season behind RayMac.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the trade.

Just the initial feeling was, here we go again. Trading picks for cash.
There is a difference though. We weren't looking for cash. They gave us cash to take Mason Jr., which is completely different than trading a player and looking for cash back. We simply did them a favor is all. No harm done. It pays to have friends in a business like the NBA. You never know when you're the one that might need a favor.

Yea, I kinda got that feeling too. But really I think it was just a Karma Move to pay back a supporter of keeping the Kings here in Sacto. Costs the Kings nothing and Miami saves a few ducats and opens a roster spot for them to sign someone.

Yeah, maybe next year Kings will need somebody to take Reggie Evans in a similar deal to avoid LT.
P.S. And pick will obviously be 31-55(or 58, you get the idea) protected.

With about two hours left, I still think something relatively large happens. A starter will be dealt, be it Thomas, Thompson, or both.

And now that Cleveland has kind of made their move, I wonder whats out there for Thompson right now.

Latest: Marc Spears tweets that Kings shopping anyone not named Demarcus Cousins from the previous regime, while Amick tweets that the JT for Jack deal is "on life support."

It's really quiet on the Celtics front now. It was reported earlier in the season the Kings trade was there for the Celtics whenever they want it. Anyone think that the case or is it wishful thinking

I'm just glad the FO is trying. It's tough to make trades when you don't have valuable assets. We're expecting our front office to trade for a 2015 Corvette when all we have are a couple of old 86 Fiero's with oil leaks and DMV back fees.
