Barring roadblock, Thornton will be dealt for Evans/Terry

Based on reports around the league, sounds like Jason Terry/Reggie Evans to SAC for Marcus Thornton will get done today unless roadblock.
@BrettNBA on twitter. Figured this deserved it's own thread, but forgive me
and merge, if it doesn't. Been a while for me, in terms of creating threads lol

I'll leave it on its own for now and see if it comes true. If not, then we'll merge it back over to the main trade rumor thread . Fair enough?

Guess we will know by game time. I'll take the trade MT has given us less to nothing this year and we get back a rebounding monster and a guy who can say "Back in the day..." with a straight face.

And for all of those still butt hurt over not resigning Tyreke the Kings will now have his cousin. ;)
On top of that, I just saw something on HoopsHype that said the Pelicans are looking to trade Evans or Gordon (both are on terrible deals, but Tyreke's is easier to swallow).

Actually while it did not initially occur to me last month, I have since realized something: we couldn't trade for reek even if we wanted to because we turned that mess into Greivis and the giftwrapped Lopez to Portland deal. Under new CBA, can't get back a guy you have traded away for a year, and pretty sure sign and trades count. If we had just let him walk, then we could.

Even if it weren't the case, I doubt that the organization wants any part of either. Tyreke because we traded him for a reason and Gordon because of his contract.

Marcus Thorton (No Buckets) has given us little this season. Evans is still a 6'10" grinder under the rim and Terry has championship pedigree even though he is way past his prime. Terry will give us some quality minutes at guard. It will give the Kings some more pieces that will actually play and contribute

Anyone thinking this is going to benefit us on the court hasn't watched Jet play this season. He's one of the worst defensive guards in the league and gives you less on offense that MT. This is either about breaking up the bigger contract into smaller ones or eliminating a locker room distraction.

Or it's a deal to help make another deal. We have 13 players on the roster. This deal would give us 14. Maybe we have been in discussion about some 3 for 1 or 4 for 2 trades which would leave us with only 11 players if we did not make the Terry/Evans trade. It could also be a trade to give us depth in the positions we need after a bigger deal. So maybe one of our PGs and PFs will be on the move after this deal.

The fact that the deal will most likely be done today makes me think that they might be looking to make their bigger deal on Thursday.

I think Terry would play in place of Jimmer and be a backup for IT, as well as play some 2 and share minutes with McLemore.

According to Dave's cryptic but always accurate tweets, this one sure seems like a done deal.

Aldridge reporting a 'slight haggle' on picks .. for which side? I don't know. Not into giving up any picks in this one though.

I'm going to severely disappointed if we give up a pick on a deal where we are giving better talent for about the same money.

No way we can start an IT/Jet backcourt. Jet is a 10-15 minute player at this point.
Exactly, Terry will be the backup PG and share some minutes as the backup SG, the only question is what PG will he be backing up, Thomas or perhaps Jarrett Jack?

Also I think this is another reason that they spoke out about not trading McLemore yesterday, saying there is no way they would trade him. This was a vote of confidence for him because this is his time now. He is the starter going forward with very little options backing him up, even less if we trade Jimmer.

Yep. If Kings are giving up any picks, they are being taken here. It's not quite highway robbery with the way Thornton has been playing, but still bad.

Possible there is a third team giving up a pick to get one of Evans or Terry.

Or it's about getting a smaller contract back that can be used in another deal that has already been laid out. At least that's my hope.

The thing is that the Nets don't have many picks left to trade so it's probably us giving the pick, probably a second rounder, but hopefully not from this year's draft.

It doesn't seem like anyone is giving up picks...
Adrian Wojnarowski: Brooklyn-Sacramento nearing agreement on Jason Terry-Reggie Evans for Marcus Thornton deal, as Yahoo reported Tuesday. No picks or cash.

I can only imagine that there is more in the works. This seems like a shuffling of funds without providing any upgrade in talent.

As much as i didnt like Thornton I think the nets got the most talented player out of the deal, I can easily see him having a resurgence under the bright lights of new york in an offense that actually swings the ball, hes going to have the spot up three pointer all day.
