"As the NBA trade deadline approaches on Thursday, the Kings are in a state of upheaval. Sacramento's talks with Brooklyn on a deal to acquire guard Jason Terry and forward Reggie Evans for Kings guard Marcus Thornton have progressed to a serious stage, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Kings are discussing a trade of guard Jimmer Fredette with several teams, sources said"

Jimmer in play. IT hurt.

Yea, watched this earlier. I don't know what anyone gains from this kind of press conference. Seems like a rookie GM move to me. Talk about it on Thursday, not now.

If PDA deals Ben after this point he'll look like a jerk, which can obviously cloud his judgement if the Celtics, or whoever do come calling. And then not defending MT, or IT as hard as he defended Ben just doesn't sound right. Just a weird thing to come out and say without any reason for it.
I had to watch it 2 times because the first go-round, I was staring at Kayte the entire time and getting lost in her eyes. Guess we will see what happens come Thursday. Going to be interesting. But like the OP said, Petrie's tight-lipped approach was the right approach. No need to come out in public and tell the media who is available and who is off limits. Might make players think a little bit more that maybe they're under the microscope, which could affect their performance on the court. But at least there is only one game to go before the deadline. Not that it matters with this current squad, but just sayin'

@WojYahooNBA: Y! Sources: Sacramento's Isaiah Thomas has strained ligaments in wrist, MRI shows. Further issues could sideline him.

Welp....time to put the Zeke 2.0 rumors to bed

I probably disagree with everything you post.

When Reke was here I wouldn't have touched Rubio. With our current makeup and after you get past Rondo/Lowry/Dragic/Bledsoe, Rubio is one of the few who fits our developing blueprint. I wouldn't give him huge money though. I would however offer him 8-9M per before offering IT 7-8M per as he'd actually fit what we're doing and isn't a defensive liability. He's not a star and we don't need a star. He's more a glue guy. He's somewhat of a PG version of Christie, passing/good handle/good defender(although Doug was better) and a shaky ass jumper which hopefully will improve as Doug's did.

Get a shotblocker/plus defender at the 4 and 3&D SG next to Rubio/Rudy/Cuz, and that's a pretty solid squad. Rubio would also be better in our system than he is in Rick's. He also looks worse defensively than he actually is playing next to K-Mart who's atrocious on that end, Love who's below average and Pek, who while he's a good man defender is quite poor in rotations/help situations and Minn has zero shotblocking presence down low.
He's expecting max and he has not improved much if at all since he came into the L, that's a no thank you. You don't pay 9-10 + million for a average PG who is not even close to being a All-Star even in the East conference let alone the stacked West.

Plus in Minny on offence he's a pick n roll specialist he's got bigs who know how to move off screens (roll to the rim) and without the ball in Pek and Love. Cousins and Thompson have no clue what to do In that situation and they would not really help Rubio much.

Hurt from shooting too much.

Also, I would pay to watch a frontline of Reggie Evans and Quincy Acy playing together, if just for 5 minutes. Basketball-wise we'd be screwed, but it would be really fun to watch two guys who just go and beat up dudes for rebounds.

Isaiah has been playing with that bum wrist ever since his percentages started going down. It's kinda dumb that they waited until now to do an MRI...
Does it matter at this point? We're not going to the playoffs anyways, so who cares!? If anything, it will really help our tanking mode if him and Boogie are both out for any length of time due to wrist and hip respectfully!

I respect the majority of fans here that want to move on from IT, but as an IT fan I see as potentially fate.

You weren't going to get value for him in trade by himself. I personally feel he has the tools to be a good starting pg - speed, work ethic, heart, scoring ability, and can work on the defense and deferring to others. Not saying I'm right, just that I always felt the organization needed more time to make that decision. All opinion

In all likelihood, IT is probably going to be a King after the deadline. The wrist injury, his very low contract, his poor defense and the Kings bad record all are reasons why he is hard to move for equivalent value. If nothing else, this is likely a way for the front office to find out how much value IT has on the open market and how much they will have to pay to keep him in the offseason.

That would be a terrible strategy. Trying to trade a guy at the deadline, then turning around and wanting and/or expecting him to re-sign less than 5 months later makes little sense. Does anyone really think if they asked IT in a private moment right now if he feels he's a part of the future here and if he feels he's wanted here long term, he'd say yes? I sure don't.

Seems to me we had locker room issues heading into the break. With IT and MT popping up in trade rumors, I sure wouldn't want them here after Thur. That's a great way to create even more turmoil in the locker room.

If IT is moved and it isn't in a Rondo package, I am pretty damn interested to see what kind of haul he'll bring back. I have no idea what kind of value he has around the league, and every deal mentioning IT that isn't related to Rondo doesn't have any other potential names in it. Who's trying to get him, and what are they offering? Should be interesting.
