The Pistons would trade Josh Smith if they could. What do you think, guys? SOURCE (NBCSPORTS)

An example trade from Pistons fans is Marcus Thornton plus filler, like Jimmer or Derrick Williams, for Smith. SOURCE (SBNATION)
Seems like every team that has Josh Smith wants to trade him. I'm a bit leery of that. Also, he makes a ton of money - three guaranteed years on top of this year at $13.5M per. He kind of makes Larry Sanders sound like a good idea.

I would only do it for Thortan/Jimmer/outlaw. I trust Smith would go back to being an all star under malone. Like jerret jack said about malone, he knows who to use players strengths just look at Gay as an example

On the whole, Smith is a very overrated player. Defensively, he's very good, and has averaged 2.1 blocks a game for his career. But offensively, he's not very efficient for a PF. This year he's been terrible because they have him playing SF, which plays to his weaknesses. He's a terrible 3 pt shooter, averaging 27.7% for his career. For most of his career he's only averaged taking around 1.6 3pt attempts a game, but this year he's averaging over 3 attempts a game. Its no accident that his most productive year in the NBA came in the 2009/10 season when he only attempted 7 three point shots all season. Its the only season he shot over 50% from the floor.

If we could acquire the player from the 2009/10 season, he would be a great addition along side Cousins and Gay. Not sure I'd want to take that gamble. Of course Gay has worked out just fine, so who knows?

The reason I'd make a Josh Smith trade is because I don't think he can be a worse player or trade asset than Marcus Thornton, Jimmer, and Derrick Williams combined. I dunno if he's a better fit than Larry Sanders tho. We could have a Larry Sanders vs Josh Smith discussion.

He can easily be worse. The last three years Smith is using 22+ possessions (15 shots + 2 trips to FT line + 2TOs + 3assists). What he would get on this team, and how will he react to this situation?

Too much offense if you try to throw Smith in there between Gay and Cousins. Especially with It around. You're paying a lot of extra $$ in that case for something we don't need, and frankly I don't think Smith as a PF is going to be terribly great anyway once he comes over to the varsity big man Conference.

Smith could be interesting. That would be a ton of athletic ability at SF and PF. Maybe you could then move Isaiah to bring in more of a stopper at PG. If you could bring in someone like Rondo after it you could put together a very unique roster.

Smith is terrible at SF and he would get his ass kicked at PF in a conference that is stacked with real PFs (Love, Aldridge, Dirk, Griffin etc)

Besides as Brick mentioned, too much offence to be stuck between Cousins and Gay, especially with IT around. As much as I would like to move on IT, I get the feeling our hierarchy think he is here to stay. If that is the case, our PF and SG must be defensive types that so not need shots. Something that Smith is not. It gets even more problematic when you look at that contract. Yikes!

There has got to be some way to trade with the Nuggets now that Nate is down. Something centered around IT/MT for Chandler/Miller would be great.
If you love athleticism and versatility, can't beat a Gay/Chandler/DWill rotation at the swing positions. Puts a lot of pressure on Gay as a point-forward, but he has looked good in that role, and was looked at as that kind of player coming into the league.

Sanders again played well tonight against the frontline of Gasol & Randolph.
Are you judging by the box score? I caught the first few minutes of that game and did not like what I saw at all. On offense he was going one on one and on defense Marc Gasol abused him, not just in the post either. He let Marc Gasol beat him down the floor on one play.

Concession: It's hard to imagine anyone on that team giving a crap since the front office is so bad. I suppose he's a player like Gay who'll improve once traded.

Yes, I also noticed that too, that Gasol & Z-Bo abused him but still he played a decent game, putting up semi-impressive numbers than his previous games.

Even going off the box score, Sanders had 10 points, 8 boards, and two blocks which are hardly elite numbers. Z-Bo and Gasol both had fairly good games as well.

He played a lot of 4 with Karl, but he came into the league as a 2, and has played there some this year with Shaw.
He's a SF if you had to label him, but he's just another athlete who can swing between multiple positions, rather than a tweener who lacks something.

The Kings need a vet that matters and plays minutes. Rudy Gay has been that guy, but a guard of that type would help a lot. Obviously, the name that's been floating around is Andre Miller. I am not sure if Denver is going to deal him for what we want to give. To me, the biggest needs are a vet guard and a shot-blocking big. Of those two 'needs', the guard should be the easier to acquire. Without Cousins, the team has lost leadership on the court. One of the continued screw ups by the Kings is bringing in vets for leadership who can't earn minutes on the court through their play. (John Salmons, Chuck Hayes, Francisco DNP Garcia, etc.) That's why you need a vet who can log 20-30 minutes and earn those minutes. One of the major differences between a guy like Vlade Divac and Hayes is that you wanted Divac on the court when you could. Team can't keep bringing in these leaders who sit on the bench without the ball in their hands.

The Nuggets may be more willing to listen to an offer than before. They are really thin at the guard spot now, especially with the Andre banishment.

I am a bit nervous that there hasn't been that many rumors regarding the Kings. One thing about the new front office is that there have been consistent rumors that Kings were looking to make a trade for weeks before they traded for Rudy Gay. Now its all quiet on that front which I am reading that there is not much activity and there is a real chance that we will stand pat and do nothing.

This is a bit concerning considering that this team in in desperate need of making the right deal. Of course this could genuinely mean that no one is interested in our junk. We managed to trade for Gay because we had expiring deals to throw in. We really don't have those any more unless we are talking about IT or Jimmer and those 2 don't add up to much $$$$.

Maybe I am just being impatient! :)

Go figure, offers for Jason Thompson and Travis Outlaw aren't rolling in and other GM's phones keep getting mysteriously disconnected when Pete brings their names up.

Nate Robinson done for the year so he's going to get playing time now if they let him back in and they will need him now imo.

I agree. We either accept IT as our starting PG and fill in the gaps around him OR we trade him before he commands a starter's salary.
Yea... if thats the case, then we have a tough (or easy in some eyes) decision to make.

I just hate that it has to be now, because im not sure we'll be taking a step forward,
immediately. Im a bit tired of us taking these setbacks

I really really want us to compete for a playoff spot next season

Addition by subtraction. Just wait.

Afflalo would be a tempting piece to put next to Cousins and Gay. Enough to give up Ben? I'm not sure, but in some ways he's the best-case scenario for how Ben would fit next to those two.
