Boogie and that All Star slot

Statistically you would actually classify this as a slight step back for Cuz. His first non-dominant game in weeks. But he kept it efficient and really at this point as much as his individual numbers, which are just beyond question All Star worthy, every win closer to .500 we get ups his chances, especially if we could catch some of the bottomhangers with top bigs like Minny or New Orleans recordwise.

Of course now we head off on the roadtrip form hell, so all this progress could be squished right out and we could be back to 13-26 a week from now.

Like I've said in other threads, technical fouls are a very poor barometer of headcase-iness unless you're willing to add Kobe and Dwight Howard among other stars to your list of headcases.
Absolutely agree, but the fair weather fan is who is making up the majority of the All-Star voting, and Cousins has a reputation. Leading the league in techs is not going to change the narrative for those lazy NBA fans (and announcers).

PS- It's not my list of headcases.

Well, that's probably a step overboard, Cap'n. Don't forget that you're not the only one around here who isn't surrounded by other Kings Fans on a regular basis... Cousins has no such reputation in this neck of the woods.
"Every" might be overboard, but I think the vast majority has that opinion. And nobody here cares about the NBA, it's 85 and sunny, we're at the beach!

I'll take your word for it: I was last in HI for the tail end of the lakers' threepeat. Between that and the fact that the "local" team was the gd lakers, everybody was on Shaq and Kobe's sack.

Grant made a good point today during the game when he said if Cousins can outplay Hibbert he would have outplayed two of the current 3 highest ranked C's which imo would increase his chances by a lot and probably make this the biggest snub ever, also Pekovic with his recent play has made a claim as the 5th best (with Marc Gasol/Horford/Lopez all going down) who he faces in a back to back.

If Boogie plays smart and pulls through probably the most physically demanding back to back any C can go through than his chances sky rocket.

This was posted before which I presume will get you a slap on the wrist ;) but it's about damn time. He deserves a little recognition for what he has been doing day in and day out. I think he has had a few "average" games this year but only that. Otherwise he has been a beast. I don't need anyone to tell me how good he is however. He is ours. I am happy.

Feed the Beast.

Cousins brings it every night in pursuit of Shaq's 24/10 challenge. He deserves some recognition.

Last night against Cleveland, when the Kings' exploded Cousins was the third leading scorer and not the leading rebounder. Not to take anything away from him. He needs more help.

That guy wrote that like somebody trying to impress their professor on a term paper. But he got in several good turns of phrase including this point:

A team well-accustomed to losing could ask for worse than someone who will teach them to openly disdain the enemy and seek nothing less than their humiliation. That's a team Sacramento fans probably want to watch.

Frontcourt: DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings

Only a player with absolutely gaudy numbers could find his way on here as part of a losing team, but Cousins' production simply can't be ignored. He's second in the league behind Durant in points per 48 minutes (34.5), one of only three players averaging at least 23 points and 11 rebounds per game (Love and Aldridge are the others), is fifth in the league in double-doubles (23, with 18 of them being games in which he averaged at least 20 points and 10 rebounds) and is eighth in the league in steals per game (1.85). According to NBA.com/stats, he ranks fifth in the Player Impact Estimate behind Durant, James, Paul and Love.

The Mavericks commentary team (my favourite in the L) just gave Cousins props today during the Orlando game for his nickname "Boogie" and the fact he won player of the week.

it's a little too flowery, yeah, but I kept nodding my head at a lot of the points he made, especially concerning Cuz' "character issues" (the importance of which have always been overblown).

Jeff Van Gundy says Cousins shouldn't be an All-Star

Harsh words for the best center in the game.
i like jeff van gundy, but i find this logic so counter-intuitive and ridiculous. why shouldn't great players on bad teams be recognized? the playoffs are about the best teams in the nba; the all-star game is about the best players in the nba. there's an obvious distinction. record should only factor in if there's a compelling case to be made between choosing one of two players who are both having stellar seasons. the problem is that a guy like dirk nowitzki is nowhere near the statistical dominance of cousins this season. beyond that, i wonder how much JVG criticized yao ming's inclusion on the 2006 all-star team despite the fact that yao missed 21 games and van gundy's rockets were a losing team as a result...

JVG wants to be the devil's advocate. It's the only way left to him to try and finagle a little interest in anything he says. He acts as though the All-Star game is all about merit and not a raging popularity contest to begin with.

All-Star doesn't mean "only the best of the best"...it means best in the game regardless of which team they're on.

Let me add that if superstar level talents on sub .500 teams shouldn't be on an all star team and already have trouble getting national attention on TV, where will the world get a chance to see them and isn't that cheating the public? Boogie is good enough to be the MVP of such a game. Not saying he will but he is hardly going to be a shrinking violet and go unnoticed.
