Boogie and that All Star slot

With the news about CP3's injury, is there any way he sits out the All-Star game and opens a spot for Cuz?
I doubt it will effect him one way or the other. But indirectly if CP3 can't go:

a) Blake absolutely goes, but that's largely a given anyway. But there will be a Clipper there.
b) Curry absolutely goes, which would eliminate any chance of Lee, but that wasn't there anyway
c) Parker very likely goes, which helps alleviate any Duncan nonsense on the "gotta take a Spur" level
d) I don't know if Lillard makes it or not, but since Aldridge is already a lock that doesn't really have an effect on Cuz one way or the other
e) a huge key would be if enough guards went down for Monta to make it, because then all of a sudden Dirk may not go, and boom, there's your spot

Key thing would be if CP3 or Kobe, as the starting guards, are ruled out just before the game, then commish can pick replacements, and that's normally prominent snubs. Also I believe might be the last thing Stern did in office. A little last bit of Sacto love by adding Cuz?

Lee won Western Conference player of the week and the Warriors have won 9 straight.....not looking good for Cuz while we got out gunned by the Bobcats/76ers.

Lee is not a factor Andre. They didn't want to put him in last year. He's no better than the 6th-7th best big in the West. And he's got two more celebrated teammates. Maybe even three. Lee won WC player of the week last year while actually averaging SMALLER numbers than Cousins. He's not the concern. If Dirk wants to keep on averaging 16 and 5 each week from now out things would actually be looking up.

Yeah Dallas hitting a mini slump atm is helpful but if the Warriors maintain there groove and Lee keeps going well (Thompson has slowed down after a great start) David Lee could be a threat.

His numbers are significantly lower than most of the other big men candidates for the ASG. I wouldn't worry too much about him

Cousins is the best center in the league. There are no teams that would not want him starting for them. I hate the term all star because it has lost all meaning. It does not mean you are a good player. It means people know your name and maybe you jumped over a car once. How many players have been voted in playing garbage or not playing a majority of the season and riding on their name and previous fame? I want cuz to be recognized for his performance, and the all star designation has been tainted to a point of not recognizing talent anymore but reputation.

It's actually gotten to a surreal point where you're surprised if he doesn't have at least 26+ 13+ in a game. That's not even an exaggeration. The guy is a freak, he makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

I really hope he gets the nod this year because he genuinely deserves it and it'd be very disheartening to lose out to someone less deserving.

He is easily the second best big man to ever put on a Kings jersey. It will not be too long until you can start making legitimate arguments that he is the best big man to put this jersey.

Allow me to expound a little.

Here are 30 of the greatest bigs of the modern era (normally I count it as 1980 onward, but I pushed the boundary a tad to pick up some late 70s figures like Moses, Walton and Parrish, just be aware that their rebounding numbers may be slightly inflated due to pace at the time), all at Age 23 (or 24 in the case of Admiral (who did not enter the league until he was 24) and Amare (who missed almost his entire Age 23 season).

We could also name this list "Boogie's Peers", except the lesser lights on this list aren't really his peers. His numbers belong in the top group, the HOF group. LaMarcus Aldridge, Shawn Kemp, Brad Daugherty and even that yabbering Big Redhead need not apply.

Brick, any chance you can do an updated version of this and the per36 if you get the chance? DMC's numbers have gone up since you last posted it.

i know what you mean. i was just thinking yesterday that its almost crazy how good this guy is getting this year and he is still only 23.

ahem: that comment referred to in the Lang Whitaker opinion near the bottom is mine. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this entire blog post was inspired by me as I have been hammering that entire set of writers with the numbers/comparison. :p

Also hit Stein. Would love to get it to the Sports Guy, because he's undisciplined and prone to taking up causes.
Oh man those two people that commented on your post really pushed my buttons

So to be an all star you must have a great supporting cast? Ahhh now I'm gettin it!!

Simmons wants Boogie:

I'd be curious to see how this would go. I feel Simmons has been tainted by his Advanced Stat buddies who were clueless about Cousins actual skill set for years. Jalen and Cousins would be a good listen though.

Hall of Famer
Boogie has been making a case for himself since the beginning of the season. We can't expect the rest of the world to catch on when even people who post on this forum once a month or so call him immature and a cancer. People need to open their eyes and judge him on the present.

Well their announcers are idiots.

Noticed a nice little exchange with their coach however, and that is frankly more important since it is the coaches who will or won't put him in.
LMA also said following the game DMC is playing like a All Star

So you say DMC is bad at defense?

(Courtesy of some dude on Twitter)
I deleted some post I was working on for that espn article using Drtg (just because I like to use an opponent's own weapons against them). Showed similar results.

I have watched Cuz a lot this season, and his defense is MILES from where it was last year. In fact there are extended stretches where he actually does almost everything right. Half the time when he plays bad defense its because he's in foul trouble and has to very obviously back away from challenging inside. The Cuz is a bad defender is becoming one of those handy clichés that certain segments will cling to just because it makes their own favorite player look better, and others cling to out of the normal human ignorance where you don't bother to update your knowledge and so just keep on casting out the old stuff as gospel. About the worst that can be said about his defense vs. most of his non-Howard/Brow (who actually still is putting up better blk stats than impact right now) All-Star competition is that he's foul prone. But you stack him up again Love, Griffin, Aldridge, Dirk, Lee, Randolph etc. and Cousins might actually already be headed toward the top of that list defensively. Certainly he's the most dangerous of all those guys on D. Biggest, strongest, best hands, best stealer, best at drawing fouls, even on that particular list the best shotblocker. Just flat capable of making the biggest plays and being the most disruptive.

his impact on shots in the paint is his problem. he's fifth worst among guys that have had more than 6.5 FGA per game against them (kind of an arbitrary cut off, but it gives you useful results), ahead of only guys like Love, Pek, Glen Davis and Al Jefferson. he's also still pretty damn bad in transition and just doesn't hustle back consistently. he's been better, much better this year, but he's nowhere near good.
