Not to worried about losing our defensive role players just yet. There is time for that. The other thing is that aside from Evans those guys are all fringe NBA players who's impact is limited. To turn the defense around, I mean really, really turn this defense around the Kings need big minute defenders at important positions, not an Aldrich here, a Mbah A Moute there, or a Toney Douglas. They need legit 30 minute per game starting caliber defenders. They need a guy like Asik. Defenders you BUILD around, not defenders who just happen to tag along on your roster and play 15 minutes a night.
Long term, I'm tentatively penciling in Cousins and McLemore as long term starters. Jury is still out on Ben.
In my opinion we still need long term solutions at PF, SF, and PG.
What this is really going to come down to is who we put next to Cousins. That's it. That is the gamechanger. That is when things get real.
And maybe the biggest reason I like this deal is because I don't think Mbah A Moute is long for this league. His knees are in bad shape.
