Kings vs Timberwolves - Summer League Game 4

#97
That right there is a jump ball in the regular season. I am ok with 6 fouls... if they had decent reffing. The questionable calls along with it being summer league make it silly to have the 6 fouls.

Gotta applaud Ben for getting back on D in that sequence at least and somehow jumping higher than the arc of that dude's shot.

I think he's looked better than the stars show. Not forcing shots, making some nice passes. If anything, he's been the passive version that can show up when things aren't falling but I like the court vision and hustle.
This is what its come down to now.

Lottery picks sitting on 0pts on 0-7 shooting, but hey, at least they're hustling.

Kind of hard to get an accurate reading of Ray and Ben when no one else on the team is even a 12th man caliber player. Nor does anyone on the roster have an NBA minute.

Every single time he drives he forces a shot, and it basically has no chance of going in. That's far more concerning than the jump shooting - the fact that if his jumper is off there is basically nothing else he can do to contribute. The jumper will come and go. The dribble and drive does not have the look of hope to it.

He hasn't been good (that's putting it nicely), but you're over-reacting. We knew he wasn't going to light it up (maybe the FO didn't know, but it was pretty clear to anyone that watched him in college that SL is not meant for someone that struggles creating for himself).

He'll do better with better players. I feel like I can't even fairly judge either Ray or Ben because of the guys they're playing with. Just awful. Clyburn is the only one that looks like he's played D1.

Don't get me wrong not a good game and exactly the kinds of problems you see in a guy that can't create for himself at all. Just glad to see that he showed some other things.

I'm more concerned watching ray who should be able to show more in games like this but obviously not as big a deal with a second rounder.

yeah, it's been disappointing, to say the least. i expected mclemore to be streaky, as most rookie shooters are, but his lack of assertiveness, lack of a handle, and lack of a worthwhile rim attack are on full display. mccallum looks like a decent prospect, but other than that, there's nobody on this summer league roster worth a damn, and that is what reveals mclemore's biggest weaknesses. he can't even take advantage of the fact that he's top dog on the team, because he requires the assist from more talented teammates in order to thrive. i still believe mclemore will have modest utility in his rookie campaign, but i've resigned myself to the fact that the kings are likely going to end up starting an utterly non-defensive backcourt of vasquez/thornton to open the regular season, provided there isn't the kind of magical trade between now and then that so many kings fans are hoping for...
