Kings vs Raptors - Summer League Game 3

just run around screens and get open, catch and shoot. thats all he needs to do on the Kings and he can be a good contributer
I hope they can work on the big men setting better screens. This team last year was the worst at setting screens. No one could get open. Which probably contributed to all the broken plays thus the heavy ISO ball that we saw.

The best screen setter last year was Aldrich.....because he has to be with his talent level and because he wanted to do it.

If our big guys don't set screens, we might as well trade McLemore right now. Aldrich set screens. Cuz doesn't understand the concept. Oh, wait we don't have Aldrich. Must have a low character.

Isaiah Thomas has no idea that those "purple lowcut" shoes are actually Kobe's newest signature shoe.
He also has no idea how to run a winning basketball program. He literally created the Luxury Tax because of how much the Knicks were over the salary cap because his "wonderful" signings.

Yes and no. I'm worried about his handles and how easy his confidence can be shook. The jumper is beautiful though.
His handles are the primary concern, but that was not an unknown. It can be fixed. He's never going to be steve nash with the ball but he can get to the point where he is not a liability.

He does remind me or Ray Allen though. I thought his defense today was overall much better. Had some good help defense plays, a great block that was somehow called a goal tend.

Ray looked like he was trying to distribute more today, but didn't really have the players to pass it to.

He has never had handles, can't go left and probably related, he has no 1 on 1 game. That's the guy we drafted. He has to hit darn near every shot he puts up or the pick will have been a mistake. Today was fine but we saw all the goods and bads. He was also known as being a decent defender but that's a topic difficult to discuss as there aren't the tons of stats to describe it. I'm being serious. 1/2 of the game is not discussed and is not valued when it comes time to discuss salaries.

Figured that he would have a game like this where the shots would fall but also nice to see it sooner rather than later. Feel comfortable that he's not going to be able to contribute something this year unlike TRob last year.

On another note, Ray McC had a not so great game......Summer League i suppose.

Ray was a mid second round talent so I think anything we can get out of him is a plus. I'd expect him to spend most of the year in the dleague with the hope of developing into a backup pg.

Ben's best game, clearly. Handles are of course a problem and that's not going to go away overnight, but hopefully tonight will taper the knee-jerk reaction after the previous two games. He'll be fine. I liked his defense tonight - wasn't perfect, he lost his man a couple times, but had some stretches where he did very well to keep his man in front of him, and was also active in the passing lanes (although gambled a couple times) and as a help defender. Encouraging game.

I like McCallum but not as high on him as some of you are. Granted he has almost no one to pass it to on this awful team, but he missed Ben a few times when he was wide open, and he has a tendency to dribble too much and sometimes with his back to the basket. I'm interested to see how he'll do at training camp.

Where's Entity tonight? He might be ready to declare Ben better than Jordan now given the extreme jerking his knee is prone to. :p

This is exactly what I was hoping the coaching staff would do. Run him off screens and tell him to shoot it without conscious. The shots will drop most nights. Some nights it won't. As long as he understands that and ignores the fans on bad nights, he'll be alright.

The interview with DA was terrible. Didn't ask about the Tyreke/Vasquez trade, McLemore, Landry. Just a lot of softballs. The response DA had when asked about Cousins wasn't voluble to put it mildly: 1) things are going to be done differently, 2) they are aggressively building relationships, and 3) they are aggressively evaluating this team.....he's a guy that we love (shrug) and we see great things for him (shrug)... Hmmm.....
