You guys really want Artest ???

I proclaim Ron Artest, now my favorite non-Kings player.
He's actually a better man than I am! I would've slugged Big Ben, even if it would've meant getting my head ripped off. He walked away from that. Those fans deserved what they got... plain and simple!

Fact is, you could curse me and even my MOM. As soon as you lay a finger on me or attack me in any sort of way, I WOULD DESTROY YOU! Artest is a real man!
 
i would have loved to see artest come to the kings, i love his game, but i 100% agree with what alacron said.

you just never know what ot expect.

ALTHOUGH i DO give artest the benifit of the doubt on this one. yes he had NO right to deck that fan, but i can understand how he was triggered. he was doing alright when he was onthe scorers table, it was only after that IDIOT fan set him off that he went insane. now i wouldn't have gone over and decked the fan, but i defienlty would have been started yelling at the guy hysterically.

just an ugly ugly situation. the artest/peja rumors WILL go to bed now.

There's a thought -- maybe now is exactly when we SHOULD be calling Indiana. Buy low and all that.

But while most players have to pas health tests to confirm a trade, I think I'd want Ron to pass a sanity test -- bet he'd get some VERY interesting results with the ink blots. ;)

I wont be surprised if the suspensions are below 10 games for Artest, Oneil, and Jackson. I think they deserve 20 a piece atleast but theres no way theyd get that much.. They'll give Artest 8 and Jackson, Oneil 5 games.......


We'll see Monday or Tuesday.....

Give me a break!! How can you ever wish to rather have someone like Artest on the team. The guy is very immature and unprofessional.... I don't CARE how good his defence is!! he is cancer and I would never want him in my locker room.He deserves a major suspension (regardless of the fact that Detroit fans are ....... *how do I not sound nasty*...... fans are just CLASSLESS).

before last night we could argue who was a better player and who would be better for the kings. but in essence, are you saying you'd rather have that happen and having the kings involved?
just the thought of that is a disgrace. i do not want kings' name associated with anything like that in any way.

i do not think it was entirely artest's fault. even if he was under control someone would've acted on him, and i believe to some degree it was really self defense. there were some players that were involved who were just trying to help but got beat up.
no excuses for the fans either, shame on them.

in light of self defense, artest did what was "right". he protected himself.
but that situation called for the best possible reaction, to go above and beyond, a true professional behavior, which would be not getting the fans involved. did anyone else see that there were actually children and old people in the arena? scared? tears?
a 6'7 almost 250 pounds full-of-muscle guys beating up another much smaller person is inappropriate any time.

since someone mentioned this already, i'll add to it. i too don't believe peja would've gotten it to go this far either, whick seems to me, a good thing. why are we bashing him for actually a more appropriate action?

fighting does not make you a man. it makes you someone with a lot of growing to do.

that's my take on this whole issue. i am getting off my box now. you can get artest all you want.

even a peja who's shooting 20% is better than a artest who is suspended.

Not if you have another player that shoots 21%.

I have to admit, this incident wasn't very surprising to me, Artest has always had trouble with his temper, though he had shown signs of having it under control last season. The only bright spot on my mind was that this incident didn't happen in Sacramento.

Would incidents like this become an every year occurence with Artest on our team? Probably not. There is the possibility that Artest would go bonkers on a regular basis. But a brawl with the fans is unprecedented, even for Artest.

This is a situation that Peja has put us in. He apparently doesn't wish to re-sign with the Kings, in a year or two he'll just pick up his sail and float along to another franchise, leaving us with squat. An Artest that plays 50 games a year is probably better than anybody else we could sign for that salary. Liking Peja or hating Artest has nothing to do with it.

The doctors would actually run out of that test screaming. I think they would find NOTHING in his head, except a hamster running in that wheel.

i'll take artest over stojko ANYTIME if and only if artest is taking his meds and under supervision of 10 full time psychiatrists with tranquilizer dart gun :D

Honestly, I don't really blame Artest in this incident... I do think he lost his temper, but I think almost anyone would. He tried to stay out of it, which was good, but when you have beers flying in your face, that's just stupid. That was completely stupid and that just shows what the Detroit fans are really like.

Hes a great player, the blame should go to everyone for all there bad reactions, but if someone throws something at you while your just lying down? Are you gonna sit back and do nothing ?

he was laying down on the scorers table, he couldnt see who threw it. and the guy that he went after was talking sh-t, the guy that threw it shoved artest towards that guy. honestly, i think that the black chick did it.

i would still trade peja for artest..... or maybe tag, bobby and alexander for artest and jones.

Artest tried to cool down on the scores table, he didnt even fight back he only did when some idiot fan threw a beer at him, and I sure know if someone threw a beer at me I wouldn't sit back and do nothing. So I don't blame him, Ben Wallace started all of it. Haha it was really funny to see Artest go after that nerd, and O'neal punch that fat guy in the face.

If you don't see who throws it, then how can you justify your actions as self-defense? You just pick somebody out and throw them down? Why not go after somebody that you don't outweigh by a hundred pounds?
 
In a way, with Artest making millions of dollars and such, he shouldnt have jumped into the stands. But when you try to stay out of it and some ignorant fan throws beer in your face, it's hard not to react to it, most everybody would.
 
Of course Artest responded badly, but bottomline, THE FANS MADE THIS FIGHT.

Just a garden variety NBA "brawl", if that is even the word for it, maybe a one or two game suspension for Wallace, nobody else seriously involved...and then the Detroit fans went wannabe thug. They created vast ugliness out of an otherwise fairly normal situation.

Because the players are pros, they have to be held to higher standards of conduct. But let's be clear here, that's much HIGHER standards of conduct than the fans evinced, who were just worms with a sense of entitlement. In playground terms, the fans "started it". Try throwing your drink at somebody at a party or a pickup game and see how they respond. Only because we ask the players to be better and more mature in this instance than we ask the fans to be is this a surprising result. All things being equal, this is exactly what I would expect to happen when one human being on one "side" decides to bean another human being on the other "side" with an object. Its almost a surefire way to start a fight anywhere, anytime.
 
Perhaps untill Artest is back in uniform we should post 2 sets of stats for the Trade for Artest crowd. Stasts with Pedja and stats if Artest were on the team...
