Raptors-Hawks meet in battle of futility

ATLANTA (ESPN.com news services) -- The Atlanta Hawks host the Toronto Raptors tonight and, if records are the measuring stick, it's the worst regular-season match-up in NBA history.

The Hawks are 2-12. The Raptors are 1-15. The combined 3-27 winning percentage is .100 and, according to ESPN Research, that is the lowest in league history (based on a minimum of 30 games played).

The Hawks try to snap a three-game losing streak. The Raptors are looking to snap a six-game skid and still are searching for their first road victory.

Sporting one of the league's youngest teams, Atlanta has gotten off to a rough start this season with an offense averaging just 88.1 points per game -- among the league's worst.

The Hawks were outmatched in Wednesday's 96-74 loss to Miami. Zaza Pachulia had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Al Harrington added 16 and nine for Atlanta, which fell to 1-5 at home.

Toronto is the only team that has fewer wins than Atlanta, managing just a victory over the Heat on Nov. 20. The Raptors since have dropped their last six contests, including Wednesday's 92-66 pounding at the hands of Memphis.

Chris Bosh had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Raptors, who shot under 35 percent (25-of-72), committed 18 turnovers and constantly were booed by their home fans.

Toronto has been plagued by a porous defense, which is surrendering 104.3 points per game - the second-highest average in the league.

The Raptors have won two straight against the Hawks and 12 of the last 15 meetings.

With all the problems Raps are having right now...
Bosh doesnt want to talk about a new contract ( I dont think he will resign)
their fans are boing them every game
their coach is getting frustrated

They are desperate for change and I wish Petrie would do something about this and try to make a deal with them

Those are indeed the times and situations when you can sometimes get yourself a steal. Trade proposals for Tayshaun Prince or whatnot simply cannot happen. But go to a desperate team and make a proposal and you never know what might happen.

Im 95% sure Bosh wont resign with Toronto when his contract is done, and thats where Petrie comes in :)

Peja and Brad for Bosh and Rose and maybe a 1st round pick?

we can all dream

How 'bout Peja, Reef and KT for Bosh and Rose? Would like to keep Brad if the Kings are going to bring in an athletic PF to help mask some of Brad's defensive weaknesses.

Bosh is playing C this year right? If we could pick him up after the season and still hold on to some key players then we would be much improved.

Why would he not resign? He is lible to get a max deal from the Raptors, and ylu have to make as much money as you can, while you can, in the NBA.

IMO Brad and Peja need to be traded while their value is still up there near the top. I dont know about yall but Brad Miller has not playing any defense at all, no rebounding, every times he goes for a lay up or a dunk he looks like a 60 year old man with his running, he is only good for passing and shooting those 15-20 ft jumpers, and I'm sorry but that wont cut it for a CENTER.

Peja needed to go last year but I guess Petrie saw something in him that the rest of us havent. As a Serbian and a long time fan of Peja I am very disappointed in the way he has changed in the past three years. He does play defense but I guess that gets overlooked because people call him a "softie". Peja is a great shooter but the guy is not a good rebounder and he cant make his teammates better.

IMO Chirs Bosh is the next Kevin Garnett and it has been speculated that he doesnt want to spend his career in Toronto and now that they are losing it just makes his decision not to resign even easier.

Kings get a young superstar to build around
Jalen Rose only has 1 year left on his contract?
1st round pick this or next year or maybe rights to Roko Ukic?

Bosh
SAR
Rose
Bonzi
Bibby

Raps could get better most likely with this line up

Miller (a much better upgrade than Araujo)
Villanueva (he should fill in for Bosh)
Peja (upgrade over Rose)
Peterson
James

There was an article few days ago on realgm in which Bosh said that he doesnt want to talk about a contract right now, he wants to see how the team does this year before he makes any decisions.

And also there were rumors that he doesnt like living in Toronto...

Bosh Deflecting Contract Talk30th November, 2005 - 4:52 am
Bosh_Chris_tor.jpg
Toronto Star - Chris Bosh yesterday again deflected any contract talk, saying he wants to see how things go this season before he figures out if Toronto is the place for him in the long term.

"If we play well and win, things will be taken care of," he said.

And what if the team only wins 10 games all season?

"It can't happen," Bosh replied with a steely stare. "It's not going to happen. That's impossible in my mind."

Bosh is signed with the Raptors through the 2006-2007 season

I am doubtful that Toronto would trade Bosh unless they could get rid of Rose as well... but I'd be hesitant to trade Miller and Stojakovic just to get Bosh and Rose. Any chance we could sell them on Stojakovic, Thomas and Williamson for Bosh and Rose?

You just made me fall out of my chair laughing!:D Which is good because I haven't had anything to laugh at lately, but anyways off of that...

We'd probably have to give them SAR, Peja, a pick, and Garcia for Bosh and Rose. Maybe corliss too.

guys...as someone that gets a ton of Raptors coverage up here, I can assure all of you that the only way Bosh is leaving T.O is by signing with another team. The raps know they are years away from winning so the last thing they want is role players that are in their prime like KT, Peja, Corliss, Bonzi and basically everything we have to offer them. They are being patient and rebuilding the team around a future all-star Chris Bosh so how would it make any sense if they would trade him for our spare parts?

Put yourself in the Raptors shoes and these trade proposals are pathetic talent wise and especially considering their main goal is to rebuild around a future superstar.

As bad as the Vince Carter trade was, at least it made sense considering they got draft picks in return.

As terrible of a GM Babcock is and as good Geoff is, it simply wont happen. No current Sacramento King could make Babcock change his mind, including Mike Bibby. And i doubt you guys wanna see him leave.

Yes but...its Pete Babcock. :p

Put a couple of beers in him and I bet I could get him to trade Bosh for a pair of my dirty boxers. :D

Isn't it Rob Babcock? I have no idea who Pete Babcock is, but I do know for a fact that he could do a better job as Raptors GM.

Pete Babcock is Rob Babcock's brother, and joined them back in '04. The whole franchise is being Babcocked to death. :p
