We don't have a lot of 2nd round draft choices. Most were traded away for players like Biyombo. Is there a lesson there? Why are we always trying to acquire other teams trash? This is the pattern that needs to change. We need to develop our own trash, or good players, instead of discarding them when we have them, and then trying to reacquire them a couple of years later. Now everyone wants to see if Hassan Whiteside is a free agent this coming off season. Well guess what, he was our player and we let him go. Some have mentioned how Thomas Robinson has developed into a player that could help us. Guess what, we had him and got rid of him.
This organization, and we fans in general have no patience. If a player comes in and doesn't immediately produce, then he's labeled as garbage, and we want him gone. If it's an occasional player, I have no problem with it, but when it's just about every player that comes down the pike, then it's destructive. This organization has no real developmental program. Our D-League, which should be exactly that, has been turned into Frankenstein's monster. I'm not saying that we shouldn't trade a young upcoming player for value at another position, but that a player should have more value when we trade him, than when we acquired him. Good teams develop players and help them improve.
This is a selfish organization from the top down. We have an owner that selfishly wants to change how the game of basketball is played. We have a GM that selfishly wants to put his label on the team at the expense of destroying what progress was made. And we have players that selfishly look for their own shot first, and their teammates second. And I'm not indicting all the players, or everyone in management. I'm referring to a cancerous culture that is destroying the organization from within. This is a bad basketball team, and I'm not referring to the talent level. And, I was using the word TEAM loosely.
