Kings trade Sessions for Andre Miller

Sounds like a total upgrade over Sessions on just about everything, and a lateral move on defense (pun intended).
I'm not sure if he is capable, but within the last month he said he believes he may want to keep playing next season.

If it's true, and he can and takes the vets minimum we may have a steal here, the last guard off the bench potentially, used when needed with all his experience.

They call him "the professor"....seems like he'd transition as an assistant possibly down the road for Karl as well.

I was not aware of that. He may be a great candidate for Karl to groom as a successor in that case. Family ties to the area... etc.

I think so too, mostly because he simply cannot defend NBA 2 guards. Also, ball handling is one of the things that is improvable with effort, and his is already pretty good. I think the offseason for him will be highly focused on quickness drills, ball-handling, and just getting stronger. The shooting will come once he can find an NBA position to play. If he can do those other things, good chance he can be an NBA back-up point guard... even next season, in addition to minutes at the two. Let him develop that way for a couple years, while Ben remains the starting 2.
Ideal would be that Nik gets very good, Ben gets very good, and they both have good minutes with Stauskas playing the 1 and 2 positions and Ben only playing the 2 position. Hopefully that doesn't get in the way of mah meng mang McCallum doe...

Yeah, some don't agree with me on this but as far as tools go and the flow he plays with, I see clear shades of Manu in Nik. One of the aspects to his game which will make him a good NBA player down the road is his ability to handle the rock, to attack off the P&R, to get his shot off the dribble and pass off the dribble. To a certain extent it makes sense to give him more time on the ball, however the question is is he ready for that at this point. I guess we might find out soon enough.

I think some make the mistake that because Nik is labelled as a shooter and he's spent so much time stuck on the wing or in the corner spotting up, that that's all he can do, that's what he's best suited for. I don't see that, I think he needs to see the ball, handle the ball and have the freedom to create a little. But again, is he ready?

And before people go nuts about by Manu comparison, I'm not saying he's near that level of player or ever will be, just they share the same characteristics. When I watch Nik I see a guy who could have modeled his game after Manu growing up, far more than a comparison to a guy like Reddick, whether intentional or not. Manu is also an assassin, a balls to the wall player and the ultra competitor. That can't be taught and we'll see if Nik ultimately has that. I do think he had some swag for a rook before the season went south and in a year or two after some success that swag will come back. Nik is going to surprise some folks here at some point, either down the road in a Kings uniform or elsewhere.
in babymanu we trust

I hope that we play Nik as back up PG and McCallum as back up SG. Nik honestly couldn't do possibly worse than McCallum with distributing the ball. McCallum is more of a SG

I agree with you. I've thought about Nik-Manu for a while. However, I think Nik could actually be a starting PG in the nba in the future. If Nik develops into the height of his ceiling, he's a deadly PG that can shoot lights out and play off the ball. Very unselfish all around player. I believe if he was a European player, he'd be regarded around the NBA as one of the most talented players in the NBA. To be fair to Nikolas, he is Lithuanian. I just see Nik as a player with a HUGE upside. I think Karl can bring the most out of Nik.

I also remember Karl coached Evan Fournier. Fournier had very limited PT on that playoff team, but he played several times at PG and looked really good. I think he had to fill in randomly at PG once because the Nuggets were down to no one but him, and he had a breakout game. I think Karl helped bring Fournier in very slowly and well. I remember after his rookie year, there was a lot of buzz around him. In limited PT under Karl, he looked like a young promising player. I hope Nik can flourish under Karl. We don't need Dragic, we have Nik.

Sadly I think Ramon is currently a better defender than miller but I still think this is a great trade.
Uh no.

For those that don't peruse stats.nba.com the Diff% is the difference between what the offensive player normally shoots and how they shoot when that defender is guarding him. As you can see Ramon Sessions was allowing opposing players to shoot 87% within 6 feet, which I didn't even know was possible. For those that are curious, Ramon was the second worst defender on the team. (The worst being Reggie Evans.)

If Karl does that, we'll see if it works. As of right now, though, I believe that Ray is best used as an aggressive point guard, duties being

1) Bringing the ball up half court
2) Getting screens in P&R game

He needs to get the green light to be aggressive if he wants to be effective. Right now, he's caught up in being a "distributor", which is why his passes always either end up on the perimeter or are feeds to post ups.

We're also calling up David Stockton for a 10 day deal. Would prefer we brought in shooters or defenders but with DC hobbled I guess it's a quick move to make. Stockton doesn't have an nba game.

He asked the Admin to change his screen name a few months ago.
Yeap....another mistake in a long line, but I don't care whatever it takes I'm getting a Andre Miller Kings jersey to the West Coast of Australia rain hail or shine, I notice the Kings online store only sells DMC and few other players jersey's I wonder why they don't sell all the players since it is the official team store.

Even as a massive Dre fan his play from the start of the season has massively dropped off to the point where he was replaced by Garret Temple, at this point he literally can't defend anyone and would be better off imo guarding SG's cause of his strength. I don't really expect much but I still think it's a improvement over Sessions. Although I do expect Sessions to break out in Washington much like Vasquez/Brooks did after leaving us as well.

I needed something to save this season and actually watch games again and Karl/Dre did that for me.

It came about 10 years to late for me but better late than never.

I got one for the holidays with my old number on it and name.

You can make one if you have to, different styles, and they may even be cheaper than the more common ones like Cousins for example.

Really?

That would be great if they are cheaper (cause shipping alone is a decent amount), so it's basically a custom design thing they got somewhere?

Yeah, I'm not sure if there is a character limit or not, or if they have every style year round.

But you should be able to put most names, 0 or 00-99 on the jersey.

Mine was a gift though, I got the black one.

According to The Tony Kornheiser Show, which briefly discussed the trade this morning from Washington's perspective, Sessions is 332nd out of 348 qualified players in PER this season, and 73rd out of 73 qualified point guards.

And now you know why I called him Mister Freeze.

I'm not a major fan of PER being the everything like some people believe, but I'm happy being dead last out of pg's officially he has moved on.

I don't think any Kings fan was happy with him.

I could not rationally describe his play, it was that bad.
