With Vivek and Co., when do you think we will reach the playoffs?

This coming season is year 2 of Vivek and Co.

With the current rate and quality of changes Vivek and Co. are doing, about how long do you think before we reach the playoffs?

This coming season or Vivek and Co second year in Sacramento (2014-2015) ?

On their 3rd year (2015-2016)?

Never?

I say the bold move of shipping out the single most important cause of poor defense, lack of ball movement, freezing out of good players, and me-first mentality is gone. A testament that this regime knows a bit of basketball and not afraid to take bold moves. I wish this move had been done by the previous regime before Tyreke got completely frozen, but that is another story.

If I have to believe the FO, our next priority would be that shot-blocking BIG. We will either get this shot blocker this season (2014-2015) or the start of next season (2015-2016).

I can see playoffs in 2015-2016 or on 3rd year of this new regime.

Depends how quickly Nik become's a above average SG and how quickly we can land a shot blocker next to Cousins. Unless both these thing's occur this year I don't see it happending this year I would say we are still at least 2 years away.

Kings will need quite a few injuries of other team's key players to get into PO this season, but close to .500 record in 2014/15 would be a stepping stone to next offseason, when good signing or two might finally push Kings into PO.

It's impossible to know for sure due to very fluid FA situation league wide, now more uncertain than ever - Rudy Gay long-term situation in Sac, etc. It would seem handful of WC teams are more on decline than upsurge due to aging key stars and FA uncertainty. LA Lakers, Utah, Minnesota and maybe Memphis, Dallas, San Antonio. Those last two or three soon to lose with attrition players retiring or productivity declining or FAs moving on as key parts who have made them playoff teams for so long. Now the presumed WC risers. OKC, LAC, GSW, Port, Hou, and maybe one or two more. That leaves Kings in good place for one of the lower eight playoff spots as long as certain "stars" remain plus adding key parts to their roster headed into this season and next.

There's overreach built into this thread, building out concerns and weaknesses into permanent disabilities determining everything. I think that stretches the argument too thin. Whatever the limitations or internal balance of this regime, making the playoffs for a team already with Cousins and Gay on it is as simple as getting lucky 1 time on a draft pick, making one good trade. Now winning a title...well. But our current dilapidated state could end at any time in unpredicatable fashion regardless of who is running the show. Heck, when it comes to the playoffs you might have to survey the entire WC to see when/if this ridiculous imbalance is ever going to let up. Put the Kings in the East and they could be hoping for playoffs right now as they are constructed today.

I wanna say the 3rd year, to be honest with you; But I ended up giving the FO the benefit of the doubt here, and went with the 4th year, just in case we fail to make it in the 3rd.

When will we make the playoffs? I don't know. Soon I hope. The question would be better asked at the end of training camp.

If your question is about the "new regime" then I would look at the facts- they are motivated, financially sound, not satisfied with where the team is now, showing signs that they are working hard at making a deal or deals, well qualified even if new, and therefoe as ready as a FO canbe to improve the team. So, to what extent can we take Vivek and Co responsible if there is the reality of too many factors and luck in play to make this team better?

I mean, sometimes we are quick to call the FO idiots. But now, we are saying they also have their excusable reasons tobe idiots?

So, when do you hold Vivek and Co the responsible party when there are too many things into play?

Unfortunately we are in the Western Conference and 1-10 is a dog fight so we are still in the 12-14 range and unless our youth develops better and builds chemistry with Gay and Cousins then we will continue to stay in that range. However, this question should be asked next season when we determine if we are keeping Gay long term and for how long. Therefore we can determine how much cap flexibility we have available to us to make a over the hump type of trade.

We're still a year away from really competing, I think. We've improved as a team, but we've still got a ways to go.

3rd year...I think this is the year we start making some noise post all star break....Hoping we end the season with around 35-40 wins....Which probably puts us 12th in the wild west.

Cousins gets better every year, who knows what that guy's ceiling is (on offense anyways)....If he gets enough shots, and this is very possible now that we shipped IT out, he could easily have a 25/12 year.

Of course, we might lose Rudy after this season. Although I can see PDA overpaying the guy....I mean, that's why he let Tyreke and IT go right?

I have a good feeling about Nik. Ben could still turn it around and up his trade value ( ).... We get us one or two defenders and we are looking at a squad.

I'm confident Nik can become a above average shooting guard (because that's really moreup to him) within 2-3 seasons, as far as landing a shot blocker not so much there's literally been no signs to even getting one since the new management came in. At this point I'm hoping Willie Cauley Stein can improve and we nab him in the lottery next year.
