DRAFT PICK!

Why cheer for this team to burn and fail in the future?

This draft will be very very good. D'angelo Russell..

the last draft was hailed as the strongest in a generation... and the kings came away with nik stauskas. i'm not holding my breath that vivek/PDA are going to find an immediate contributor anywhere in the first round of the upcoming draft, nor am i holding my breath that the kings will luck into the top-3...

beyond that, it's been nearly a decade of hoping and praying for lottery luck, and i'm so weary of the same circular discussions of the "top prospects" every. single. year. personally, i just can't bring myself to root for "lins" anymore. jimmer fredette. thomas robinson. ben mclemore. nik stauskas. THAT is what "lins" have brought to sacramento since 2011, spanning two separate regimes. it's not exactly inspiring stuff. god... it just makes you wonder... "what the f*** is demarcus cousins still doing here?"

I wonder if Cousins has talked to his agent/management team about doing their own search for coaching candidates? Maybe instead of reacting to the FO, he can take the initiative?

I REALLY hope this is the case. Frankly I trust Cousins himself to make a better coaching hire than anyone in management.

I think this is a good idea. It needs to be done subtly but Fegan should have the power to do it.

I used to watch our position in the lottery with baited breath; pickerel I think. Not sure it makes any difference although I am not one to say our position is meaningless. We have had bad luck and we got Cousins which I consider good luck. I haven't given up on Nik and will be bugged if the FO gets impulsive and dumps him.

Warriors announcers were calling him the "MVP of Team USA"... pretty high praise.
Announcers don't get a vote, though.

The feedback from all of the broadcasters and analysts (sans Jackson and Van Gundy) have been overwhelmingly positive. But the only coaches I recall being asked were Lionel Hollins and Steve Kerr, and when asked whether they thought Cousins was an All-Star, both of them sort of replied, "Eh."

The Kings are not in a position to look to or wait for the draft whatever pick we might wind up with. Our problems can't be soved by a rookie of any kind and not help that comes after the season is over. We need some kind of experienced player or players injection now or ASAP.

We need a journeyman starting SG now.

We need a backup C now, whether it be a journeyman from elsewhere or JT. JT is my fit for starting PF playing starter minutes which he hasn't done for over a year.

After those we could use bench help at the PG position.

A bonus action would be tol let Corbin coach with freedom to who he wants and how he wants.

If that little bit of action occurred we could see some good things happen.

Yeah, but you have to do more to tweet than just type twitter.com into your Google machine.

Not really once you get the lay of the land.

FYI: Just because you tweet something to someone doesn't mean they'll read it, especially if they do not follow you. Most times, the #hashtag you use or reply to can be key to having your tweet read. Be rude or vulgar and you'll get nowhere. Blanket tweet to a lot of people and you'll get nowhere. Tag people into conversations and you'll get nowhere.

I just tweeted the simple tweet above right to @boogiecousins, but I think the more the better to plant the idea in his brain. Maybe tweet Fegan too.

I am a pleasant sweetheart.

As I am not one to twitter, what do you need to do if all you have is a mere computer?
Not really once you get the lay of the land.
I was being facetious: Hammer said that somebody who's on Twitter should tweet (whatever he said) to Cousins. Glenn said that all you have to do is go to Twitter.com, and you can tweet. My response was just my tongue-in-cheek way of pointing out that you still have to sign up with Twitter in order to tweet. Which was, in turn, my subversive way of saying, "I don't tweet."

Huh. In aother thread folks seemed to think that the very idea of Cousins' agent nixing a Karl hire was preposterous and clearly a leak by a menacing FO. Yet here we see posters essentially suggesting the very idea. What gives?

Guesses are unlikely to be the same.

I had this question a couple weeks ago -
it doesn't seem like Twitter uses any kind of fundamental way of direct communication.

It seems like if you tweet an idea to someone, they won't receive it unless it happens to be pinned/attached to something else they are reading/following.
Further, if I want to see what people have tweeted to/about someone (even if I'm following them), it doesn't seem to show up despite searching for all tweets to/from someone.

It doesn't make sense to me.

Nik is a rookie... Jimmer and T-Rob were both drafted by the Magoofs..

Not all teams get great talent out of their draft picks.

Kind of the point.

You do NOT sacrifice a year of DeMarcus Cousins' prime to go off chasing rainbows in the draft again.

It's very very very unlikely we get the 8th seed this year. To get the 8th seed, it would mean we'd have to win out a majority of our remaining games. We already did sacrifice a year of Cousins' prime when we fired Malone.

Not sure about the downside of keeping the pick this year.

Learning how to win and compete >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> some new kid to bring everybody doughnuts. Hire a bleeping caterer. There is an enormous gulf, a full year's gulf, between a team fighting to stay in the playoff hunt and breaking .500, and a hopeless sub-30 win season. Boogie will be in his 6th season next year. A hoary old vet in mid-career.

And they are going to compete with Corbin as the HC? I think the "Substitute Teacher" has lost the class already.

I think the Kings FO and players may have written off this year already or so it looks.

I wish it were different, but this team does not look ready to fight their hearts out to win.

Unless they can magically turn this team around with what they have or with a big trade, what's the point of losing our LOTTO draft pick in the process?

The HC is not going to change, so unless we can somehow make a big trade by the February trade deadline, I don't see this thing turning around.

1) as I have pointed out above, keeping this pick, in fact keeping that pick last year, is HURTING the franchise. Entirely apart from keeping it being a badge of ongoing patheticness, because of the restrictions on trading a future pick when you've already got a conditional one, that ****ing pick could be why we have Nik Stauskas on the team instead of Rajon Rondo, or whoever. Its one of the greatest anvils this team has.

2) Boogie hasn't off this year, and until he has, we haven't. And woe be to us when he does, because he desperately wants to win, and when he gives up on us as a team, he may be giving up on us as a franchise. And I wouldn't blame him.

Here's the thing.

We can still trade this year's pick away for an impact player.

We would have to arrange a trade BEFORE the draft, then DRAFT a player for team B, and complete the trade AFTER the pick has been made.

A top ten pick in this years draft is worth more to another team NOW, than a draft pick next year.

If you want immediate improvement next year, we would have more leverage in a trade in the summer with a top ten LOTTO pick this year.
