Here's the thing.

We can still trade this year's pick away for an impact player.

We would have to arrange a trade BEFORE the draft, then DRAFT a player for team B, and complete the trade AFTER the pick has been made.

A top ten pick in this years draft is worth more to another team NOW, than a draft pick next year.

If you want immediate improvement next year, we would have more leverage in a trade in the summer with a top ten LOTTO pick this year.
Sooo...like we could have done the past two years?

I'd rather go into the off season with a very tradable asset (Top 10) pick than with only (Sessions, Landry, Nik, JT) and a future draft pick to offer in a trade.

The 2016 draft pick is nice to have to trade, but it is not nearly as attractive to teams as a top 10 pick in this years draft.

Worse case if we keep our draft pick, we wind up with a top 10 player in this years draft.

Worse case if we lose our draft pick, we wind up with a bunch of nothing. NO draft pick, NO top free agent pick up, NO trade.
