Willie Reed

Especially given that his skillset doesn't seem to be something we need. 6' 9"?
I'd take a flyer on a D-league shotblocker before another kid who maybe a PF. That's the kind of player we should be looking at. Throw in character/IQ issues, and, well, pass.
Admittedly, I'd like to look at a PG just to have a third on the roster, as last night showed you kinda need to have one, you know, for emergencies.

I wonder if his shot blocking will translate to the NBA? Doubt it but I'd rather see him on the floor in place of Acy or White.

Quite the checkered past tho' and apparently a sub-50% FT ave. No real NBA game experience and not all that much D-League either so not much stats cred. Listed by RealGM at 6-9 and 220. So PDA may know (better know!) something we all can't find. hmmmmm....... With Royce White showing less than zero vs. Knicks wonder if Willie might replace him.

Willie Reed man!

Heckuva player. Former 20-10 guy. Not sure how he fits into our youth movement though.

Us looking at these power forwards all of sudden when we have three signed through next season is very telling of what could come draft night.

His NBA DL stats are kinda good for March... He's averaging a double-double in his last 20 or so games.

Rebounding should though.. Either you can board or you cant. Most of it is instinctive. Same with blocked shots. Either you know how to time it or you don't. Not sure how much we'll use him but he can definitely give us a few mins here and there and it wouldn't be a dropoff from what we have there now.

Every team needs end of the bench players who come cheap and can play in an emergency and don't create a locker room problem. I thought we found one in Cole Aldrich but Willie Reed seems as good and may be better.

When people were defending the move to pick up Royce White, the standard response in defense of the FO was "what difference does it make?' I understand that but the difference it makes is that we could have missed out on Willie because we wasted a place on our roster. This move is not earth shattering but we don't need earth shattering moves. Getting Rudy Gay was the earth shattering move. We need to fill in other places and Willie may very well do it.

At my age, though, having a team with Isaiah Thomas and Willie Reed may cause me some confusion. :)

White did not get renewed and is gone. So Willie makes a bit more sense especially if he can protect rim and score underneath. Acy seems to have small hands last couple of times in based on his fumbling quite a few opportunities. Willie in Reno likely until Kings get back from road trip then maybe we can see what he brings.

Dude has put up numbers, which is exactly what you want to see. 14.5-10 on 59% shooting is bomb diggity. Checked out some of his highlight footage and he looks a lot bigger than the 6'9 220 he's listed at. Might just be the smaller competition he's playing against, but he doesn't look like John Henson.

I was thinking the same. Guess the idea is that if some serviceable big can be found on the cheap, one of the bigs (like JT) can probably be traded for some small asset, and to potentially clear some cap for IT/some other PG.

Personally, I would like IT back (depends on contract of course). For all the criticism he receives, I don't know which PG is available that shall be a big upgrade on him.
