Will you be watching the All-Star game???

the thing that i really like is...you can totally tell that Josh Smith put a lot of time and effort and thought into his dunks...i mean the jersey was a freakin prop for gosh sakes...he knew the exact order everything....and it brings me back to that time when the kings played the hawks and they interviewed Josh's father and he said that Josh was really hoping that he would get invited cuz he had a lot of tricks and ideas up his sleeve...and whata ya know

This is exactly what the Kings did a few years ago. Win everything but the dunk and finish second in the dunk nonetheless. Nash' popularity just skyrocketed tonight...and the Suns.

Josh Smith was the BEST part of the evening. 19 years old and will be defending his title at the ripe old age of 20. This kid is special!! :)

word. like one of the tnt guys said, josh smith came into the dunk contest with a gameplan. what impressed me most was his execution and punctuation, to borrow from dr j. he stuck every one of his dunks on the first try. vince carter's from contests past were all much more creative, but i really like josh smith's style. his dunks are relatively simple (as far as crazy dunks go), but they're refined and smooth. nice job. i have to agree w/ kenny. josh smith needs to go up against kobe and lebron in next years dunk contest. that would be soooooooo sick.

^yes i was just about to say that...all of Josh's dunks he got on first attempt..and no misses...which is a rarity in the dunk contests of late

i must also mention that Josh was pretty nasty last night in the rook vs soph game

and i said WEEKS ago if Josh Smith wasn't in this contest...you might as well of not even had a dunk contest

he did scare me a few weeks back when he twisted his ankle i was like "does this mean he's not gonna be in the dunk contest?" LOL

After about the 20th try by Chris Anderson on his dunk, he should have given up. Doesn't it seem like he has been in the last 5 dunk contests? I think if JRICH would have been there, he would have won, he's just got the elevation.

Why is there so much hype about either of the two moves that Nash did ?
If you ever played soccer in your life you should be able to do that stuff blindfolded...

Who cares.

because its not soccer its basketball. and the fact that amare/nash got that creative and brought another sport onto the basketball court was pretty neat. A+ on creativity

But D- for difficulty. Overall, C+.

Pshhhhh!! You are being entirely too critical. :p Some of us don't watch much soccer and rather enjoyed his moves...at least in conjunction with a slam dunk contest. It isn't exactly the place one would normally see that. ;)

I'm just saying it's a very easy thing to do and I was much more impressed of the other Smith guy's behind the back dunk. That was a 50!

Oh, now I really loved that one too. I thought it was unfortunate that he chose to do that 1st. The judges will never give full credit for a really good dunk on the 1st one. Then they have no way to go up from there.

that dunk was bananas! if he had made that the first time he attempted it, i can guarantee it would have been a 50

Okay, I just read the whole thread and I was only a little surprised at one part of it.

Steve Nash can dunk?

Would someone PLEASE explain what that was all about?

:D In one of Amare's dunks he threw it up to the backboard, it bounced off and went toward Nash (who never moved from his spot on the court) who applied a header and Amare caught it and jammed it through the hoop. It brought the crowd to their feet...to say the least.

Did they have to clean the ball afterwards???

It's Canadien bacon grease. He uses the greas he stores in a coffee can he takes with him. Those are the rumors I hear anyways;)

Dang!!!

GO JOSH SMITH!!

He went!

Gotta give Amare some props (even though he's not too popular 'round these parts) for creativity. The first dunk with Nash was pretty nice, and if the other two had gone on the first try, the outcome would have been much closer.

He choked big time, though. Josh Smith sealed it when he put on the Wilkins jersey -- won it before he even took that dunk -- and Amare knew it.

I gotta say, I was ready to be bored again this year, but that was fun to watch. And, the TNT crew made me laugh. A lot.

Awww, I wish I could have watched! Anyone know if it's gonna be replayed?

Had annual CRAB FEED commitment/duty, can't say I'm sorry! Yum yum.

A header on a soccer field, with a soccer ball, for a soccer player is probably very easy. But, off the backboard, off the head and in the right place to dunk it? That's gonna take some work.

As for J.R. Smith's dunk -- that would have scored much, much higher if he hit it the first time. That was pretty nasty.

Can't be any nastier than a game ball.

Have you noticed how many people lick their hands before touching it?? I wouldn't want to rebound the ball either. Its gotta be covered with germs.

That's probably how Peja got the flu.

He coughed once, looked at the team and said, "See! I told you I'd get sick!!"

Anyways, this weekend was fun. The rookie game was a lot better than last year, the skills comp was fun, the 3 pt was kind of a letdown but the dunk contest more than made up for it.

The TNT crew just makes the whole thing better, I cringe thinking about what it would be like on BSPN.

A+ weekend, now we move on to the All Star Game tomorrow, it should be a blast.
