Will Landry make the team?

i've seen summer league highlights and landry is raining 3's like nothing, wouldnt he be a good fit on our team where our point guard is a drive and kick type of dude. also mcneal, needs to make the team. the dude has skills.

is landry a sf? he's 6'7... is he quick? i hope he isnt slow... he's slow isnt he.

he's played well enough I would thnk we might invite him to camp, uinles he gets another offer. Biggest thing against him would jsut be that he plays SF, and so does 1/2 the remainder of our roster, so we might not be interested just for positional reasons.

I could see him potentially backing up Martin at the 2, if we move Noc or Garcia. Unless we move one of those guys, I don't really see the point in adding him to the roster given the number of wings we have. But if we move a vet, I'm sure he would show some promise as a backup sg.

Actually, I found Jerel McNeal to be quite disappointing for us so far. He's played some nice D, but offensively he's irrelevant and he's not contributing much elsewhere.

Landry I'm just not sold on yet. It's only been four games, and the no-defense summer league games cater to scoring spurts, and that's exactly what he's done. He wasn't this good a shooter at all in college, so either he's rapidly improved, or this is a fluke. We'll see, and I suppose a training camp chance won't hurt.

he was our best 3pt shooter in summer league but like brick said we have more than enough players at his position. we would have to get rid of half of our roster. though we wouldnt be missing out on much being a 17 win team.

Well, Petrie has recently said the Kings will concentrate on frontcourt help and Landry, as a 3, a big 3 at that, might fit the 3/4 role depending on matchups. But his "D" leaves something to be desired.

Lets look at the numbers. If Kings, as I suspect, carry the minimum roster of 13, my guess it would include:

PG 3 Evans, Beno, Rodriquez
SG 2 Kevin, +1
SF 3 Noce, Cisco, Casspi
PF 3 JT, Greene, Brockman
C 2 Hawes, Diogu or ???

McCants is gone, so is Simmons. Diogu is big ? if he was part of the Kings plans one would think we would have heard something by now. That fits Petri's comment about concentrating on the front court.

I would think he deserves an invite to camp. He played well for never playing with these guys. We can always use another shooter.

I hope that other teams are watching and will give Landry a shot. He's been very solid as a knock-down shooter in all of our games, and deserves an invite to someone's training camp. I just don't see him making this team with the logjam at the 3 spot, but I'm sure he'd be a fit on some other team as a 10-12th man.

I got to watch Landry work out pre-draft, and he was not very impressive when out on the court with other forwards Earl Clark and James Johnson. In fact, he was pretty much a non-entity. I don't think he's going to be seeing any further time in a Kings jersey, unless it's a training camp invite solely to have enough bodies out there.

now that i think about it couldnt we sign him to a contract and let him play in the d-league? he and casspi could get some pllaying time there as opposed to riding the bench on our team. because we really dont have that many players under contract.

Could we? Maybe. Will we? Probably not. We don't have a history of locking up players by signing them and sending them to D-League. I can't address how he's looking in Summer League, but I do know he simply wasn't that impressive in his tryout. And he doesn't have anywhere near the talent his brother has.

landry usually reminds me of josh howard,im not saying his that good but what he does is shoots and rebounds...will probably get invited to training camp though..

In different economic times that might happen. But with money being tight and cap space being at a premium, I would doubt it. I think any money spent will be for someone that they think can contribute in some way.

I suspect, with the inking of May, there may be no more signings for the Kings this season. Trades, perhaps, but any more FA are just SOL. Traditionally Petrie likes to have an open roster spot for whatever reasons, so I doubt if Landry will be spending any more time in a Kings jersey.

No to Landry

With May's signing I doubt GP will do anything else. Although, if May gets hurt I'm sure he knows how to get ahold of Ike.
