why not boozer?

everyone would have done kmart for jefferson in a heart beat, why not get boozer in free agency? i know hes older than jefferson, but hes still 28. It might be a good idea to mix in some veteran play with all the young guns. If we can't get bosh which is expected, why not settle for boozer, will probly have to overpay a little for him but thats better than not getting anyone right? might as well use that cap space we all wanted

Then maybe draft evan turner, i dont know too much about this years draft class. How good is turner and can he play well with reke? also, is there a jason williams type player in this draft? i think we could really use what jwill gave us in 99. He put us on the map and propelled us into the powerhouse we became.

So then the lineup could be:
Evans Turner Hawes Casspi Boozer

bench: landry, garcia, beno, greene, thompson....oh snap i forgot about nocioni, i guess theyd have to find a way to give him playing time also

but it looks like a solid team that could make the playoffs. And then when boozer starts to fade replace him with a younger power forward that has had time develop while boozer is here. So then i guess maybe draft demarcus cousins instead of turner and put donte at the 2 guard. Make the playoffs with boozer then when boozer fades put in cousins as the starter and by that time he should be developed.

Boozer is not a "max" guy but you would have to pay him "max" to get him to come to Sacramento

In any other year, I would say why not. Hell thats how we got Vlade in the first place. We gave him a bigger contract than anyone else was willing.

However, the last thing we should be doing is dropping a max deal on a 'non-max' player which is what we would need to do to get Boozer.

The reasoning behind it is fairly simple. Until we know exactly what the new CBA will be like and the contract structures that will be in place, you just don't drop a max deal on a non max player because it will have the potential to absolutely kill your franchise. That contract could be a massive weight around our neck.

you can justify dropping a max on LeBron, Wade and Bosh because no matter what, you are getting a perennial all-star who will absolutely make you better and be a contender for years to come. But dropping it on Boozer or Amare....well I can see that backfiring very easily on us.

I am hoping that at least some sort of framework for the new CBA is in place by summer or alternatively, we get Bosh in which case I don't care if we drop a max for him because with Reke-Greene-Casspi-Bosh core we will be contending for years to come.

Sooooo, I'm thinking maybe, you don't want him?:)

What gave it away?

When we go and give up talent(martin) in return for emotional fit and chemistry, why would we go ahead and give Lebron type money to a second banana? And every person following the NBA knows Boozer is going where he gets one extra iota of financial compensation.

No way, no how. If he comes here, I am going to be a Laker fan, and let all you guys know about it.

Course, it sure would be fun to be able to heckle him for 40 games a year.

Forget about all that. ON THE COURT, he simply plays no defense and doesn't rebound the way we will need our power forwards to rebound. He simply would not fit here unless we had a real defensive minded center. If the Jazz cant even win with what they have around Boozer, then why would we want to be just as mediocre or simply a notch above? No Thanks.

What?! He's like 9th in rebounding in the entire league. He's a consistent 20 and 10 guy. He's a better rebounder than anyone on our team not named Brockman or Dorsey.

Eww no thanks on Boozer, now if we could somehow get milsap that would be the move to make.

I have never liked Boozers game, hes the only guy I know that will make a 20/20 look like it doesn't matter. For the matter I don't think Bosh, Boozer or Amare is worth the Max money they are going to get. When I think max players I think game changers or guys REALLY irreplaceable to their team. These guys have done nothing in the playoffs and some have been on some real good teams, it sucks we are going to have money to play with this offseason. Even if these guys would be great fits for us, I fear if we do get a little bit of interest we are going to be over paying out the wazzooo.

Interestingly enough, Landry is roughly the same size and is scoring at a faster clip with the same FG%. Boozer obviously a better rebounder but older, will cost more, and has the character issue
