Why I like NBA Live 2005

In this horrible time of the offseason before the trading starts and the free agents sign I tend to put in a lot of hours on NBA Live. I enjoy playing my favorite players and following their stats over the course of the season. I like tweaking their stats and watching what they can do. It's fun to watch when Mike Bibby does a 360 windmill dunk from just inside the free throw line. Ahh, yes, its fun. Even more fun though is to take advantage of the computer and make blockbuster trades that are heavily one-sided in my favor. The computer does decline trades that are completely unfair but I was able to pull off some trades just today that made me giddy. For example: I traded Chris Webber straight up for Amare Stoudamire. Webber is rated overall 81 and Stoudamire 76 and Phoenix gleefully accepted. I also traded Kevin Martin, Matt Barnes and Doug Christie to the 76ers for Igoudala, Korver and Dalembert, all of which were rated in the 50's while Doug Christie, the obvious gem, was a shining 67 overall. The 76ers accepted that trade with frivolous alacrity. Ah, I wish it was this easy in real life and we could just take the athleticism and youth away from teams for veterans with injury problems.

Im bored. Is it October 30th yet?

Okay, now I have to ask what might be perceived as a stupid question...

Do you have to use a controller with this game?

You can play on keyboard, as well. The more complicated moves are pulled off with the so-called EA Sports Freestyle, and that really requires a controller (with analogue stick).

However, you should be able to play matches just fine with keys.

If you like NBA Live 2005 so much, you should follow my dynasty I am doing. :D

I check in on that thread from time to time. It's interesting, to say the least. This thread was just a product of a slow news week combined with me logging heavy hours of NBA Live and the need to post something.

After joining bballkignsrock 2005 dynasty and hearing so much about the game I REALLY want to get it. But Im assuming 2006 version will be out by summers end with all the new rookies, etc.

Nah, you don't need a controller, you could just simulate all the games if you like, play as the gm.

Thank you. That's EXACTLY the information I was looking for. Being the GM appeals to me; sitting for hour after hour to eventually succumb to "Lionel Simmons Syndrome" doesn't.

;)
