Why did we trade Hawes?

In short, Hawes was traded to make room for Cousins. There was no way Cousins could have seen that many floor time as a rookie if Spencer was still here.

At the time I also predicted that he'll be a starting center right around now. There is no denying he has talent, even if he is tissue soft. But the funny thing is, the Kings is currently still the soft no-defense team that Hawes left behind. He'd fit in well here.

The Hawes is Soft reminders have reminded me of something.

Cousins isn't soft, unlike most big men to come around here. Maybe that's why the FO has screwed this up so bad. They're completely confused by this big man wanting to play on the low post and grab offensive boards. He's disrupting the entire Sacramento Center thesis!

Meanwhile, Hawes is contract year fools gold. The only thing that he's "getting" this year is that he has discovered how much he likes living on an NBA salary.

I mean they're not excelling, they're not "All star caliber". Maybe it's just the team they play with, but when I watch them, they look much better, like they've been improving, since they were with the Kings.

Who though? With the exception of Hawes for a handful of games and Wallace if we're going WAY back; players leave the Kings and just stay mediocre.

Hawes also was very annoying. He was a i-know-everything guy and loved to teach everybody, even veterans and coaches about basketball, life and especially politics. There are some people in the organization just could not stand this dude anymore.
