Why did we get Ostertag?

He played good against Houston, you have to remember the Kings play a whole different style compared to Utah, he has to get use to our system, we got him for rebounding and interior presence. Which we didnt have before

I know that we got him those reasons but hes averaging like 1.2 rebounds/game.... I could get more rebounds to come my direction if I stood in the same place all game. He needs to show a little more... but I guess he should deserve some time.

No, he's not horrible. He's a role player and he does pretty good. Without him, we'd have been in big trouble when ADelman had to pull Miller to calm him down.

Tag is not going to be a starter; he's not going to be an all-star. He does give us someone else to clog the lane and he does it pretty well.

We got Ostertag to play against teams that are the opposite of Minnesota. Of course, we should have also picked a big man for players that are precisely like Minnesota, but that's a totally different topic...

At what point did it become acceptable to dump on our of our own team members?

Tag is a bum? This from someone with an avatar of Ron Artest?

Ron Artest>>>Greg Ostertag. I didn't say Tag was a jerk, or selfish, or anything regarding his personality, I just said he's a bum, on the court.

Ron Artest has given the entire NBA a very big black eye. He could have been one of the very best; instead, he's out for a year. Ostertag is a role player, nothing more. He's NOT a bum - on or off the court.

ok this is what i have to say Greg Ostertag and Shawn Bradley of the dallas mavaricks belong to the top 5 worst Centers in NBA History Period

wheater you agree or not i don't care. but it is a FACT not OPINION!

Which, ultimately, has nothing to do with the fact that he's a much, much better basketball player than Greg Ostertag.

Ostertag is a role player, nothing more

No arguments here.

No, as a matter of FACT, your opinion is OPINION.

Really?!?! a career 2.68 blks per game centre is the top 5 worst? Obviously all you can see in players are if they are a superstar or if they are not, players don't have to score 30 points a game to be good, these players do the little things that count, take Ostertag no hes not going to score alot but look at what else he brings;

Rebounding Divac < OTag
Shot Blocking Divac < OTag
Interior Defence Divac <OTag

I think everyone needs to lighten up a little, we lost to a good team - let's not beat each other up over it!

It's all good............ And yes webber is doing much better than I thought he could ever do after his injury....

Horse****. That statement isn't even in the same hemisphere as a fact; hell, there are at least four centers in the NBA right now that are worse than either one of them:

Calvin Booth
Jelani McCoy
Iakavos "Jake" Tsakalidis
Zhi-Zhi Wang

R1LOVER - Don't worry. It's all good. In fact, if Peja16 and I DIDN'T snipe at each other, the world might come to a screeching halt!

;)

The problem right now is that Tag HAS sucked. Sorry, just true. But I still expect that to turn around at some point.

This guy has been in the league for 9 years, and during that time he has consistently been one of the best per-minute rebounders and shotblockers in the league. Which just so happens to be the two area where we need the most help. Not sure why it is taking him so long to get up to speed, but he is a veteran NBA player who has always shown the ability to help in areas we need help. Sooner or later he's going to show up, and we're going to be glad to have him. But right now, just inexplicably ineffective.

Ostertag is simply not suited for that style of play. Do you remember last years series when Vlade didn't play for games at a time? They simply don't get up and down the court fast enough. If Miller was not in foul trouble you would not have seen Ostertag play at all tonight.

Ostertag is a role player, just not the sort of role player this team needs. Petrie needs to stop building a team ready for a game of HORSE and finally address weaknesses. Ostertag is just fitting as a poor signing, because the team is becoming the new Jazz. Perrenial chumps.

Actually I would argue that Ostertag is EXACTLY the sort of player this team needs, although it is yet to be seen whether he is the exact guy or not.

We are way WAY overbalanced with offensive oriented players, and need anyone and everyone we can get our hands on to rebound and defend. By all rights Tag should be like Pollard fro us, but it just hasn't happened yet.

I agree that Tag does the sort of things well that we were looking for on this team, although it does bear noticing that Eddie Griffin would have done a good job filling that role as well, would have made us better equipped to defend against fastbreak teams, and was still on the table when we signed Ostertag...

Ugh. I can't think about it, I'll make myself sick...
~~

I think that OTag is going to be useful in the games to come. In the limited minutes that has played he has shown atleast that much.
As fas as Artest is concerned. Anyone in the league is better than him at the moment ;).

I suppose with all the chemistry problems already present, they didn't want another trouble maker.
