Why can't WE be like this?

Their gm also speaks to the media, and doesn't hide in his cave as ours does. They are pretty transparent, while we don't have a clue what our FO is thinking. See and hear it all the time down here in the Bay Area.

"This is an ownership group that is pretty bold and visionary, and the prospect of doing something grand is really alluring to them," said one source familiar with the Warriors' plans.

It also helps to have cooperation from local officials who readily understand and acknowledge the benefits of working with professional sports franchises. Sacramento has had the benefit of way too much interference from people like Heather Fargo, who has the business acumen of a sea slug.

Shoot, it helps to have owners who aren't deliberately sabotaging the team in a transparent effort to bail on the city.

This is strange though. Yes, the Warrior owners will go to the mat to get a great arena in SF but how are they going to get this thing paid for? The benefit to the Giants idea was that the Giants would pay for it and the Warriors would be rent payers. Now, they have to go through an arena funding process in a city that makes Sacramento look like a cake walk.

Good luck fellas.

Umm no. The 49ers are moving to Santa Clara. The Giants almost moved to Florida. All because the local government wouldn't do anything.

True enough as far as the 49ers are concerned but I disagree about the Giants. Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades.

The Giants only got about 15 million in TIF money. The rest of the park was pretty much privately financed or through naming rights and sponsors. Sacramento in the last year has done more to keep the Kings than SF has done for decades.

In summation, getting things done in San Francisco is probably tougher than in Seattle or Sacramento. I just don't see how this SF arena gets financed unless there is a naming rights deal that is going to knock our socks off. I didn't think an NFL stadium could get done in LA but now Farmer's is willing to tack $700 million of their own cash so you have over 60% of the cost taken care of right there.

I have to think there is some behind the scenes brokering going on. Naming rights or the city is willing to pitch in from their general fund. Otherwise, a real estate deal is the only way you get an arena done in SF and that's what the Giants plan was. If they're willing to scrap that and go at it alone, they must know something that we don't.
