This is an interesting conversation. JSin, driving 90 miles per hour might be "breaking the law" but that is different than "cheating." How would you explain the difference in the two?

BTW - good to see you J. It's been too long.
Well the law in this case is very close to how baseball uses it's rules. If you are convicted of steriod use, you are guilty, regardless of reason, and suspended. Now, the difference is the question of character of a person, one who would cheat knowingly versus a person who gets caught without knowing he was doing so in the first place. But it's still cheating in the eyes of baseball.

But... it has to be proven first. Which isn't being done by those who are assuming he is guilty. All they have is hearsay from a sealed hearing in which Bonds never admitted to taking steriods knowingly or without knowledge. Simply that he "could have"... and to be honest, everyone "could have". Like my earlier example... if there is steriods in my icy-hot I'm a steriods user. But it's false logic to assume that some steriods are "clear" or "cream" and Bonds took a clear and cream substance so these must be steriods. Doesn't work that way.

6th- Nice to see you to girl, hope everything is well.

J- They can never prove that Bonds actually used steroids unless he comes out and says it verbally to the public. There is no evidence anywhere that can prove he took them, just peoples mouths.

That is breaking the rules. It is not cheating. Cheating is breaking the rules intentionally. Big Difference.
Not to nitpick, but most would consider cheating to be defined by breaking of the rules. And I'm not speaking of cheating in general, this is in the baseball sense, which doesn't care about intent.

A dirty test would also prove it.

Still dont understand why you would think that someone who was lied to and tricked into taking something he would have never thought could be steroids is called cheating. You cant cheat if you dont know what your doing, otherwise its not cheating. If you know the rules and you break them knowingly then it is cheating but not knowing, that isnt cheating whether its in baseballs definition of cheating or not.

Bonds said he supposedly used steroids when he was tricked in 2003. He didnt say for sure nor do we have any proof but it is pretty certain that he did take them unknowingly. Therefor, why does baseball not suspend him, etc since they do not care about intent?

Sammy Sosa was suspended for cheating by using a corked bat even though he said that he didn't know he was doing it.

You know what's funny is this is the view shared by every single Giants fan while the rest of the world understands what a lying sack of crap Bonds is.....

Of course, your "understanding" that he's a lying sack of crap with no evidence. I'm not claiming that Bonds isn't lying, just that there is no evidence to say he is. And that whole innocent until proven guilty thing is tricky.

I never said Bonds cheated. I don't know why you think that's what I'm saying. Your the one who thinks Bonds got steriods, just without knowing it. I'm not even sure if that's the case. My point was simply that regardless of if he knew or not, if he used steriods, he cheated.

EXACTLY. Do we all know that O.J. killed his wife? Yes. Do we all know that Chris Webber took money in college? Yes.

All the proof you need is on the stat sheets- you don't suddenly start roping HRs at 35 like that, and in Bonds' hat size- his head is twice the size it used to be. I'm not going to argue this with Giants fans, because they'll believe he's innocent until the hard proof comes out, but you have to know deep down that you're fooling yourself.

I simply do not buy the "I didn't know what I was taking" argument. It's too convenient, and I find it extremely hard to believe that a professional athlete would not educate themselves properly about things they are using to improve their livelihood- their body.

I'm not saying the man isn't talented, but he tainted the game with his lies and his actions, along with a few others. That's all I have to say on the subject, really.

Simply awful play of late. Our pitching STINKS!!
our offense has also been pretty bad. missing the 84 HR's that alou and bonds hit last year is hurting the O, getting thsoe 2 back is going to boost our O back to the level it was last year.

we hit well enough to win on tuesday, but the defense really let the team down. 2 unearned runs won the game for the bums. now is up to the house of horrors, coors field.

GO GIANTS!

looks like eight "lucky" games... Barry sucks and cheats, go blue

Funny how new members come in here and trash another team/player in a sentence while trying to get attention. First of all that is not what this board is about and funny how you decided to take a shot at Barry and the Giants in a thread discussing the team. Very classy. Im also glad you seem to know so much about Barry and his "cheating". He used steroids unknowingly which IMO shouldnt be held against him unless he knew which there is NO proof of. Im not going to get started on that, you can just read previous posts.

About Barry "sucking"... you think he sucks, yet every baseball anylist labels him as the best ever. If he sucks, name ONE person who has had a better career all around. (Please... entertain me)
