Who would you hire as the new Kings GM?

My eternal hate for Danny Ferry as a Duke player automatically eliminates him as someone I’d like to see.
But several others on that list seem ok.I saw Petes other tweet in another thread first. This tweet is a strong endorsement of Scott Perry so no confusion as to which AGM he was referring to.

I'd imagine Hinkie is unlikely to be in play for a variety of reasons. I seriously doubt Vivek is interested in a rebuild, which is obviously what he's known for. I don't think Vivek would ever willingly commit to a rebuild, to be honest.
It's an interesting group. I hope they do a thorough job and interview diligently. I respect Pete but I don't want any part of Perry. Let the others battle it out. Webster seems to be highly rated and the others all have interesting backgrounds too.

So, if Dumars is staying on as VP or President of Basketball Ops, then the real list is Perry and Redden. Hope Trent does a great job in his interview, cause Perry is another mediocre Vivek hire.
Simon and Webster are not coming here to work for Dumars. Ferry is window dressing to placate the Spurs fetishists. Zarren is not leaving.
If they hire Perry....look, Perry and Dumars are really nice guys, but neither one of them would even be considered for another GM job outside of Sacramento. They have both had their shot, and it would be another weak front office from a power perspective.

Feels like we’re repeating the Malone / PDA scenario, on steroids this time.
Luke was hired before Dumars, has two years left on his contract, and apparently still has the support of Vivek going into next year.
Dumars was hired after Luke, is currently GM, will be hiring the next GM, and apparently Vivek has faith in him to make these decisions.
Now we have a new GM coming in, working in the same building as the former GM who hired him. That former GM also became interim GM after the last GM left, and would obviously become GM again when the new GM gets fired. In terms of soft power, Dumars has all of it.
The same new GM is also stuck with a bad coach who probably has trouble finding his way to G1C every day, much less the ability to implement a coherent system based on the vision of the new GM. If he’s denied the ability to put together his own coaching staff, the new GM is going to be pretty screwed since his success will be directly tied to how badly Luke ****s up his plans.
And this is all within an org that has proven itself to be a breeding ground for drama and backstabbing between executives and coaches.

I thought it was stated that Dumars has an interim position?

I liked Perry fine enough when he was here but his Knicks tenure has left me scratching my head.
No GM will take the job without getting to hire his own coach. The only reason Luke is safe is because they are going to take their time hiring the GM. I think Vivek knows he needs to get this one right.

Yes, Luke is likely safe because the new GM won't be in place to hire before the start of the season. So they're not going to fire Luke and put another interim guy in. Luke is the interim coach at this point.

Well he said the GM will have choice first, then posted 2 tweets saying Luke is safe.

Besides, not 1, not 1 quality GM is coming here unless they are picking their guy. You can bet on that.
When does camp start? It's not just opening day. They said they expected a 2-3 month process with Dumars making the draft pick, we'll be in camp and pre-season if there is one by then.

You or I have no idea when the next GM will be selected. It could be next week or months from now.
The bottom line is no quality GM is coming to Sac without picking his people. You can bet on that.
Luke is far from safe.

I don't think ANY owner would willingly commit to a 5 year TANK job, just to try and land lottery picks. That is why Hinkie has been out of the league for over 4 years now.
We need a strong talent evaluator as GM that can get us some quality players to build around, no matter if we have a top 3 draft pick or not.
