Who will the Kings sign with the MLE in 09?

I know it's not the MLE, but GP did give Garcia a 5-year/30 mill contract (5th year team option - whew!) that starts next season.
Going off track, the Kings might cut payroll this season as they're not selling seats too well...financially, the organization has to be hemmoraghing cash at this point. It's quite possible that we could be significantly under the cap this summer, and given the lack of quality free agents, may stay that way.

Depends on what happens with trades the next 2 weeks and what the kings cap number will be.
The MLE counts as a salary slot for teams over the cap. If you are under the cap then you have to renouce the slot for the MLE before you can use your cap space.

Any role player on a super-talented team scares me. It is like Peja... when Webber, Bibby, and Vlade were on the floor, Peja was unstoppable... heck, he was an all-star, but once those guys were gone and he was being defended properly, his game declined considerably. So, Ariza might be a good risk, but there still will be some decline in his effectiveness when there is no Kobe, Gasol, and Odom to draw attention away from him.

Yeah. He has a good mid-range game, so hopefully he'll be able to extend it out to 3. If he can he'll be pretty deadly.

like martin? ihope we dont waste our mle because it looks like we wont be making any moves this deadline to have cap space to steal a good player like sessions in the offseason. wont sessions be a unrestricted freeagent this offseason?

I actually like him the way he is. He's very good at getting to the rack and even getting to the free throw line--very surprising given his seemingly pedestrian athleticism. But the guy is tough. I'd think if he were to trade threes for twos, that part of his game would flourish less. Of course it's good to develop it down the line to really keep defenders honest, but he has legitimate triple threat skills from mid range as it is--can shoot from mid, pass the ball well, or slash from there.

Well, at least in my honest opinion both Reef and Salmons paid off .. Reef helped our poor Webberless team one more year of playoffs, heck he was damn good down low in the post when he was healthy not counting his excellent attitude I wasnt surprised he was named to our staff... Salmons is also paying off his MLE signing... he was a no one in Philadelphia and turned to be a great player in Sacramento... we are in a position we can get good value (at least a young talent or a pick for him if Petrie makes the right deal)...even Beno was a good pick up when we had no PG at all to start the season, only his extension that wasnt really needed... the 4 MLE you mentioned only Moore was a bad one IMO...
you also forget you will hardly find someone who will turn our team around with the MLE ...MLE is intend for role players, to fill voids... thats what I think of it...

The last thing we need is to sign another player to MLE. If anything, we should be looking to shed the ones that we have handed out recently. If Dallas wants Beno for Stackhouse, do it ASAP before they reconsider. Just shed the salary and don't worry about the pick.
Trade everyone you possibly can, and field a team of youngsters. Sign some low price, short term veterans to fill out the roster and for some leadership but avoid spending MLEs on average players.

Yep, don't want anyone with the MLE this year unless he's young and talented. In fact, hopefully with the recession and all, GP won't be allowed to sign anymore old, average players.

Ha. Well, no one has seen him play that much because Orlando has him stuck on the bench. I've only seen him go a few times, but I really like what I see: he's a pretty athletic 6'11" guy, 25 years old with some fluid offense, and a good rebounder. Seems like a bit of a project still, which is why he probably doesn't get much playing time, but he's a restricted free agent and I'd imagine he could be pried away.
We shall see!

Heck, Udrih can play SG as a quasi PG he just can't play very good D. But getting Felton would let the two of them compete for real and see who is better. Udrih is getting there but not consistent yet but at 6-3 and 205 has some beef to take the pounding and to bang in the paint.
