the kings.com website is trying to skew the voting by the wording of the question... but maybe we can send a message to the Maloofs by getting a real poll of the top 3 canidates for the Kings Coach!!!

Of the top 3 canidates, who do you WANT as the Next Kings head coach???

Elie. Im still not really sold on Musselman. Even though he did okay in Golden State, I seem to remember some of the players having problems with him.

No "bring back Adelman" option? ;)

I like Mario Elie (and would be OK with Musselman) but is this really what the Maloofs gave the most successful coach in Kings history the boot for?

This isn't a lottery bound team with a three year rebuilding plan. This is a playoff team who finished the year strong and whose best players are in the primes of their career. It's also a team with some obvious flaws and the selection of a new head coach will no doubt shape the roster moves that need to/will be made.

I don't like the idea of a first time head coach, a guy with limited experience who was fired after two losing seasons with the Warriors and a 62 year old with no NBA experience being the top three options for this position.

Other than stemming from some good to great moves by Geoff this summer, I can't see how this team can do anything but take a step backwards.

Agreed. I always thought I'd like to see Muss here, but only after we went young and full rebuild mode. Not now. Not like this.

Still, I have to like him more than the others. Since we're not rebuilding, why not the coach with the most experience, and best interview ;)

I voted Musselman, but to me it's pretty much a tossup with Elie. Both seem capable, I guess, but at least Musselman has been a head coach before....

indeed

i agree with you 100%. i'm still bitchin' about the team letting adelman go without a plan and without any [equally] suitable coaching prospects on the horizon. however, the maloofs did let adelman go, and there's not a whole lot that can be done about that. so the team has to save face by hiring the best candidate available. whisenant is not the best candidate available for reasons discussed. it's really a toss-up between elie and musselman, because there are qualities and credentials to like from each, and things to dislike as well (though i'm really high on elie and can find little fault in his qualificaton outside of his lack of head coaching experience).

my pick is musselman... he seems to have the best combination of defensive toughness and NBA coaching experience... he reminds me of rick carlise or a young larry brown...

i wouldn't mind mario elie, but he is such an unproven commidity as head coach... he could be the next avery johnson, or he could be the next mo cheeks, terry porter, doc rivers, mike woodson... ex-players who are average coaches, but not championship coaches...

I wish this was a public poll. I would like to see who the one person that voted for Whis was lol... I'm not so sold on Musselman, he seems like a hothead and the fact that he lost players in Golden State means he could easily lose the likes of Ron Artest and (if he comes back) Bonzi Wells. Then again, it was his first head coaching job, and his team was doing very poorly, probably thinking it was hurting his chances of EVER getting another head coaching job in the NBA, so he made it very clear to the media that it wasn't his fault. Which I definitely don't like. I think Elie is the best choice and best fit for this team by far. But I think Musselman is a definite step up above W... I was reading the above post and that's EXACTLY what worries me. A young Rick Carlise and Larry Brown. You have to understand the makeup of this team. This team has players with definite attitude, and the Maloofs took the chance to bring in very TALENTED players, but they are also playing with fire here. Powerful yes, but it can turn on you, as Ron did on the one and only Rick Carlise. Kenny, Bonzi (maybe), Ron, and even Bibby all have a tendency to veer away from criticism and strict play. Musselman seems like a "Do this do that, don't do anything without my ok stay in the system" type of coach. I like a coach that can direct while letting their players play. Like PJ, Avery, Popovic. Elie is the top choice, Musselman is (like the players) a choice where you are playing with fire, but it could work out.

This guy might not be a bad idea either. Hell of a player back in the day:

I very surprised, that anybody there not remark Del Harris as potential candidate for job. He really deserves it.

Interesting results.

Before I voted, I thought Musselman would be the favorite.

I, too, wish this had been a public poll. ;)

Ok, I'm doing the traditional closing of the poll thread now that its moot thing to preserve the results (from all you frontrunners wanting to run on over and vote Musselman now that you know how it went down;) ).
