My dude, Carter means we played the vets way too much down the stretch and were non-compliant with the wishes of the front office...ergo, Joerger should probably be fired for insubordination. I’m not a huge tank guy, but I’ve also watched the league long enough to know smart organizations don’t rack up wins in the season run-in. If slide to 5th or 6th, no concerns; we can’t control everything. The 10th would be a near calamity. We need a blue chipper.

We really need to be top 5 that means finishing with no better than the third worst record which accounts for lottery issues

I agree 10th would be awful. Until the lottery is over though, we not only don't know where we landed we don't know how we haven't landed there yet.

Furthermore, no matter where we land, firing Joerger for where we landed would be punishing the fans, not Joerger. Unless you know a better coach waiting for his opportunity to come to Sacramento that makes a statement firing like the one you suggest palatable?

If they are. Vivek made clear that the team is building through the draft and doesn’t want to be stuck in the middle, and alluded to that being Vlade’s vision in this most recent article. Joerger was guaranteed the final year of his contract supposedly to help him play along for one reason instead of worrying about his job.

I can’t believe the organization would tolerate him overusing vets to win meaningless games at this point. If it’s the youth winning games, it is what is.

Ah but this wasn't what was said. Land at spot X or worse and Joerger better be fired. No qualifiers were given about how we landed at spot X.
Edit: I want to see the youth leading the charge from here until the end of the season also, but my replies were not to a post about the means just the end.

Last year Blob called Mitchell when not many around here were talking about him.

This year I'm going to go on record and say that Carter turns out to be one of the best players in this draft. I think he's going to be a jack of all trades, borderline all star type player. If he's picked 10th I would bet that he has top 5 value before all is said and done.

Indeed, I think I was just injecting some of my own opinion. The fact that we’re still talking about Temple/Vince playing more minutes than Buddy in certain games lately, and some patterns in that Mavs game.. Joerger still has a step to go to implement the full youth movement, and I’m anxious to see it. But I hope the youth does show out

The reason I have not been up in arms about it ( aside from that not being my style, fine for others) is Joerger made his statement about resting the Vets and playing the youth more. Then injuries took Skal and Mason out,Hill was shipped out etc. Post ASB I think (hope) we get to go full bore youth and I really hope we get a good look at Bruno Coboclo. Might be nothing, might be a steal.

That's pretty much what I've heard about Mikal. Haven't watched much of him yet. Is he a guard or a forward in your estimation? I've seen some call him a guard and others a forward. His size makes me think guard but his wingspan could make up for his lack of SF height.

He will be able to play both IMO, but SF will likely be his primary position. He is 6'7 with a 7'2 wingspan.

In the NBA size matters. He is small abd slight. He is no Steph Curry. In the NBA he won’t be given the freedom on offense he has now. The big question is how effective can he be with reduced opportunities?

I suspect whoever drafts him will wish that they could redo their draft again.

Give me Ayton please! For me he is a home run pick in this draft. Jackson is very good. His floor is high but is his ceiling hugely higher than his floor?

I feel that Ayton would be our most talented player if we got him and I am a huge Fox fan.

Ayton is probably a pipe dream at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up picking 8th or lower.

All we gotta do is rest Z-bo and KK, I don't see us winning many games if we get out rebounded by 15-20 a game... But I digress..

Also, totally agree with you on Young. And with Fox starting to show, it would be doubly stupid to draft the kid. I hope some team drafting ahead of us pulls the trigger on him.

Anyways, any of you draft luminaries have any favorites at picks 8-10? I've seen Bridges name thrown around, and wouldn't be heartbroken if we ended up with him!

Well I think the tank will be strong from now on so ayton is still very much a possibility.

In terms of Young, I can absolutely see Orlando being stupid enough to draft him now that they shipped off Payton. It a given I think.

My worst case is 7th pick where we finish 5th worst and have 2 teams jump ahead of us.

At 7 I’m still taking Bamba and Young over Bridges. I’m still a believer in Young and at 7 he’s an absolute steal

Steph Curry wasn't even Steph Curry until he was like 24. Trae Young is 19.

I wouldn't pick him high either but lets not act like there isn't a chance that this kid explodes into one of the best players some day.

There is a chance, but its not a big chance. Trey Burke looked like an assassin in college too. Not much of an NBA career despite getting drafted by an franchise known for doing a lot of things right and developing their talent well.

Not going to get into a pissing contest about how Young has shown more than Burke. That is not the point of discussion here. Size matters and the playing style matters too. Young can do whatever he likes for his team because he has the green light to do it. He won't have that green light in the NBA which begs the questions, what is he if he is not a high usage player?

Doncic is 1 and Jackson is 2 :) Wendell Carter is at 3. Bagley, Ayton, Young at 4, 5, 6 but only because the model accounts for mock draft ratings.
If you exclude mock drafts Bagley slips to 5, Trae to 7, Ayton to 9. The guys then rising? Jontay Porter at 4, Troy Brown at 6, Killian Tillie at 8.

Ya I think Jackson will go too 3 if he keeps this up but getting Bagley or Porter at 5 or 6 isn’t bad both all star potential.

Now if we **** up and pick outside the top 7 I’d take Carter over Bridges and I’d do that easily.

I think whether he gets the keys will depend on what team drafts him but it obviously wont be to the effect that he's getting in Oklahoma. The rest of his team stinks so it's either Young wins it or loses it for you. He's struggling mightily in conference play so I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop down closer to 10th by the end of the year. He's always been a risky pick but the kids ceiling is the highest in the draft in my opinion. Teams wont be able to defend him in the NBA the way they are in college but on the flip side, the individual defenders are better so it'll be interesting to see what happens with him.

While I agree with you, I do think you have to cover all your bases just in case. And, trust me, a player taken out of the top 10 will end up being a star in the league. Donovan Mitchell or Kawhi Leonard anyone? You have to do your homework lest you end up with Thomas Robinson again.
 
Wendell Carter with another good game. 18pts, 9reb, 6ast, 3blk and 1-1 from 3 which puts him at 50% from 3 this season.
 
So it appears once again that a draft is becoming a little deeper than was originally thought.....understanding that in a perfect world, the first guys drafted are franchise players but that just doesn't jump out at me as anyone fitting that profile.....and before any of the draft is get their panties in a bunch, I consider franchise players as a Lebron or Duncan or etc. I still think Doncic is the best talent in this draft and I think it's 10 deep with guys who are going to be really good.

Lebron and Duncan are superstars, once a generation talents, players teams deliberately tank an entire season for. I would consider a franchise player to be a notch (maybe even two) below. I think Lillard is a franchise player for example.

He might be but he is not good enough to lead you to the promised land as the #1 guy on the team. A great player sure. Someone who can be a super important player on a great team but he is not THE guy. At best, he is a #2 guy on the championship contender.

I can see what dude_12 is saying and I agree in a way. However, you don't need a LeBron or a Duncan type to win a championship. You could do it with a player that is a notch below that status but still a perennial all-star and a franchise level guy who plays both way or at least will in time.
