What would/does the George Karl signing mean to you?

For me it means this (remember, I am one of those 'bleeds-purple Kings hopeful fans'... so this could be overly optimistic):
-Sacramento now has a top tier coach... and top tier results should eventually happen (playoffs... western conference finals... etc), it will just take a little time.
-Sacramento will become a free agent destination again (top tier coach, All-Star Center, winning, new arena, management willing to spend money)
-To sum it up, this is a huge move towards good times ahead; better teams, better players, more winning, less whining, way more exciting to watch...

What does it mean to you?

It means the voices of us, the Sacramento Kings 6th Man, are being heard.

That's a bit optimistic. I'm not sure any of this would've happened unless Orlando expressed interest.

I have faith in our front office. These guys may not be 100% right at all times, but it is obvious that they want to win.

This is a move that screams "We hear you, Kings fans."

It means we'll see if the Malone performance was an anomaly, and the Corbin team performed to the caliber of talent we have. Or if the firing of Malone gave the team no direction that caused a bad performance. It means we're making a last ditch effort at keeping DMC, because he wasn't going to take losing much longer.

It also means if the story that PDA has wanted Karl all along, that Vivek is the madman that we thought he was.

So what does this really mean to me? It means that MAYBE, just MAYBE, Vivek has eaten some crow and doesn't like it. This might bring our team some relevancy that we were experiencing at the beginning of the season.

Unfortunately, that's an exact quote of what PDA said after firing Malone.

We can criticize PDA for a plethura of reasons but one thing we can't say is that he doesn't have a unique drive to win and do whatever it takes to get there.

Some direction I can see (hold in the hand) so to say. And little else, for now. Maybe that will change a month later after observing.

I'm sure the quietness of the cash tillers from ticket non-renewals was being heard. The emptiness of the arena at a reported sold-out game was being seen. The voices of angry fans on internet sites, I'm not so sure.

Every FO wants to win, let's not be stupid here. Some are just not competent. Unfortunately I fear our FO falls into this category, and obliviously so.

Your avatar makes my skin crawl by the way.

You would be surprised. I can guarantee you that members in and around the organization are regular visitors of this website, among others.

My sources are not really sources like the kind you're thinking of, more like acquaintances within/around the organization.
People in and around organizations hear things. They sometimes repeat those things to others. When things get repeated that should not be repeated AND it is traceable, like someone gives their name on a website, there can be consequences. What is that saying? With friends like this, who needs enemies?

A report earlier today paints a less than favorable picture of former Sacramento Kings head coach Michael Malone during his tenure with the team. According to the piece:

“Ranadive, a source says, told Cousins he had to do it because Malone didn’t get along with GM Pete D’Alessandro and had been insubordinate by missing a meeting.”

OK, I'll bite. Your saying that if the season ticket renewals are brisk and fans are coming in flocks, they're going to pay credence to what angry fans are saying on a website like this? I'm in Kentucky, others are in Germany, Japan and Israel. What my and other non-local attitudes towards the team are, aren't nearly as important as the fan that is going to the games.

It's quite simple, honestly. I'm not saying one factor contributed more than another, it's obvious that is true. We are all one.

We are the 6th man. Regardless of where we are, our voices can be heard, whether it's at the games, through social media, through fan forums, etc.

Our voice was heard loud and clear and our prayer has been answered, we now have a great coach presumably.

Are you trolling? That's an incredibly insincere post. You flagrantly left out the rest of the report.

Whether Vivek Ranadivé told DeMarcus Cousins that this was the reason Malone was relieved of his duties or not, is unknown. NBA sources confirmed to Cowbell Kingdom that the incidents mentioned in the report are factually incorrect. And according to multiple sources, the insinuation that Malone was ever insubordinate during his time with the Kings is laughable.

Malone and D’Alessandro did not have a perfect relationship during their time together with the Kings, that much is clear. But league sources highly doubt the authenticity of these reports regarding a major blow up between Malone and D’Alessandro, or for that matter, Malone and any other member within the Kings organization.

Trolling? No. I simply wanted to highlight an important piece of that article that I did not feel comfortable with. I do not believe Malone and PDA were best buds yet I refrain from believing that their relationship had grown to such negative capacities.

What do you mean?

Over the years, there have been contingents of fans of one player belittling another player in order to elevate their chosen one to the proper level and respect they thought said player deserved. Of course the contingent of the other player would respond in kind. And on and on it would go. There have been some epic ones.

Oh okay, I see. I'm definitely not that type of fan. Like all fans, I will criticize, however, I will also praise and give credit where credit is due.

to me it means that this was LONG overdue and since we have a rookie GM and owner I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt...but make no mistake about it, it's put up or shut up time in these next couple of seasons with George at the helm. Let the guy coach, do not meddle with player personnel and build some chemistry for the long haul.

It means a lot of things.

It means that the FO and ownership really do want to win games.

It also means that they are incredibly impatient - firing Malone when no one but them thought he deserved to be fired, claiming Corbin the coach for the rest of the season only to can him etc. And unless that impatience gets tempered I'm fearful of more knee jerk moves that aren't warranted and don't pay dividends.

Which is why what I HOPE it means is that lessons have been learned and the whoever it was that was responsible for Malone's firing gains some wisdom and insight that helps the Kings going forward rather than making more moves of that ilk.
