what will happen Kingsfans.com...

Forgive me if this has been answered already but what will happen to our forums? does it change to royalsfans.com? or stays the same/gets removed? thanks!

OT here, but why do people think that the Kings will automatically go back to the Royals if they move? Why wouldn't it be something completely different?

I will bid you all farewell If we lose our Kings. I can't in good conscience stay a Kings fan if they aren't local :(

People in Anaheim love their Ducks, so if the Kings move there they most likely will have to ditch the whole royal theme and colors all together to avoid any confusion with the LA Kings. Especially since they would be in the same building as the Ducks.

As for the forum, I'd assume they will just register a different name that is appropriate with the new team name and continue to follow the organization. Ironically, I think the infusion of new Anaheim fans along with lingering Kings fans would make the board more popular than ever.

They? Who do you think runs this forum?

I think this thread is really in bad taste. Why now in the middle of the excitement?

Talk all you want afterwards if the Kings leave. Right now, I'm happy to be a SACRAMENTO Kings fan and nothing has told me they are moving yet.

Yes, it magically appeared out of nowhere, isn't that right Jeremy? Clever name, eh? :)

It's a great name! I wonder who came up with it? ;). As far as what will happen let's cross that bridge if and when it happens.

Let me think. Whoever did it must have been concerned with the SacKings objecting to it on the basis it might sound like it is sponsored by the Kings. Brilliant name.

This. I am not giving up hope and the fight until moving vans are outside the arena. You will have years to talk about this if it does occur. For now, how about we not be so pessimistic and defeatist. I think we need to change LL's name to Debbie Downer.

First off, the timing of this thread stinks. But that said, I posted in another thread that when the Chicago Cardinals football team up and moved to St. Louis where they already had the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team, no one changed their names. And believe it or not, no one confused the baseball team with the football team. As a matter of fact, most of us thought it was kind of cool to have two teams with the same name. Of course now they're the Arizona Cardinals, for those that don't know where they came from. Point being, I don't think this name thing is a big deal.. And, I'm hopeful its not something we even have to discuss.

Actually I'm all for cities having the same names for all their sports teams. Most old school football franchises took their names from the baseball franchises of their cities, and I thought that was pretty cool (until franchises/cities inevitably started playing musical chairs).

But the problem isn't confusion with their team (Ducks). It's with their hated rivals (LA Kings).

The Kings moving down there and keeping their name and colors would be the same as some NHL team called the Lakers that wears purple/gold coming to Sac (actually, bad example since Laker games are the only ones that seem to sell out, but you get the idea :p).

I went through some posts of an Anaheim Ducks fan forum and for all the posters it seemed impossible for them to have a team named Kings in the "Duck Pond".

A hockey team called the Lakers? Hold the phone, that one actually makes sense.

A name change and colors will happen. I don't see why there would be much difficulty changing this site up depending on the name and if they get new colors or logos or something like that.

Why would this site change? Do you understand that this site was started by a Kings fan and is presently run by a Kings fan and all the mods are Kings fans? The future is a big unknown as far as I know.

This site is practically self funded by one person out of his own pocket. Emotionally invested into a franchise based in Sacramento. You see where this is going.

also,

Kingsfans is the daughter
Glenn is her father
JGar is the man she settled down with

It would only change if they change their name, colors & logo.

Probably too much to hope for, but if the Kings do leave town, it'd be nice for them to leave the name and the history behind. Isn't that what happened in Seattle? That way if we ever get another franchise (Hornets???) they could be called the Sacramento Kings again.

I am sorry but I don't agree....probably because I am fan of the team regardless of where they play. Don't forget that the history of this franchise goes back a lot further than the Sacramento era. As a fan of the team, there is no way I would agree with turning our back on decades of history because the team moved out of Sacramento. The team didn't turn its back on the history when they moved to Sacramento so there is no reason for them to turn their back on all those decades if they leave Sacramento.

If the Kings leave, we won't get another NBA team to replace them. I hope people aren't actually hoping on to that "hope".

They gave up the name not the history. The only team I can think of that gave away the history was when the Browns moved from Cleveland to Baltimore. And Cleveland was already given an expansion team.
