What was the better trade ?

The Kings are managing without Webber. The trade is done, but do you think the Webber trade was a better one than Peja/Jackson for Odom?

Miller
Webber
Odom
Mobley
Bibby

or

Miller
Thomas/Williamson/Skinner
Peja
Mobley
Bibby

The good thing about the Webber trade is that they got 3 guys with size in exchange for 1 (Webber). It was also a good way of getting rid of Webber's big contract. On the other hand, Peja hasn't played as well as he did last year. Odom would give the Kings rebounding, scoring, and athleticism which are things that the Kings lacking. Long term I think the Webber trade was good, but for the short term the trade for Lamar Odom was more appropriate.

Oh geez. Shoot me now, anyone.

The Peja trade NEVER TOOK PLACE. You can't compare something that happened to something that didn't and ask which was best...

Well, you can compare them but not with any degree of logic.

I was thinking about this today, and then decided to stop for the reasons VF stated. Second guessing is not going to help anything.

Well at least all your posts of the consistant quality...

This isn't even "possible" threads...and I thought that regular trade threads are bad. You can't compare stuff that have never happened. This is fiction, not reality. Please, lets at least wait till the season is over for all this trade madness!!!

I still have a good feeling for Stojakovic. If you look at his stats for this year there not in the dumps, hes just had some glaring bad games. Plus to be honest he hasn't looked all that healthy, I just hope it isn't anything physical that might carry over into the rest of his career. If thats the case then we better dump em fast.

I think Webber and Odom would've been an awesome combo. Odom is one of the best forwards in the league and he is great at one on one. Plus he rebounds! I don't think it would've worked out though contract wise. Odom signed a 6 year, $64 mil contract back in 2003. Peja we have for cheap and BJax doesn't round out the contract trade. We would be hurtin more cap wise than we already are now..........

if you believe the rumors, that trade was very feasible for the kings to pull off, i dont see what people shouldnt think about it. saying they shouldnt talk about it is the same as people saying we shoudlnt question that the kings will win it all. if you dont want to hear it, dont go on this thread

with that it mind, i dont care.

1. I didn't believe the rumors.
2. Petrie's trades are never rumored ahead of time.
3. I didn't say he shouldn't talk about it. I said he couldn't compare something that actually happened with something that didn't.
4. If you don't care, then YOU move onto the next thread.

Thanks for the sensible response. Apparently they're hard to come around here.

Getting back to the point, having Odom would give the Kings a guy who can score in the paint with dunks and lay-ups. The passing offense of the Kings would result in Odom having many easy buckets. However, the point you made about the salaries is the reason why the trade wouldn't work out. Odom has a big contract and Peja on the other hand is cheap. That's the bottom line as to why the King don't want to trade Peja. It's not just because of Geoff Petrie's close relationship with Peja. They got him for another year or so and he's shown the potential and ability to play better than other players with higher salaries.

Sensible responses are the norm around here - to sensible questions.

This is a different team now. Had we traded Peja we would still have the mystery and burden of Webber's contract and we WOULDN'T have Brian Skinner and Kenny Thomas, both of whom are working out quite nicely.

The point is we will never know what would have happened with Odom because it didn't happen. If you really cannot stand to not know the answer to the question, make the trade in one of the NBA computer games. That's the only answer you'll ever get.
