Sounds like Kings forward Rudy Gay pushing for a trade before Thursday's 3 pm EST deadline, per Basketball Insiders.

First Caron, then Ben, now Rudy? oh well in Vlade we trust I guess.
Abandon ship everyone!! Captain Karl goes down with it of course.....

So which team are we rooting for in this years PO's? Spurs, because we want to see the Warriors smashed under the heels of LMA, Duncan and West? :)

Thabo is definitely good at one thing (defense) and is serviceable every where else. Nobody on here can convince me Ben is "good" at one thing. I'm tired of waiting for guys to step up. I support this trade.

Well if your looking for defense, then Thabo is your guy. His current defensive rating is 1o1.o where Ben's is 110.0. No comparison! And in this case, the stats match the eye test. Thabo is also having one of his better offensive years shooting over 50% from the floor overall. He's never been a good three point shooter. Well I shouldn't say never, he shot over 40% five or six years ago, but in general he's been a low 30% shooter from there. He can hit an open corner three though.

Thabo is also 31 years old and may only have a couple more good seasons in him while Ben is 22 and hasn't even entered his prime yet. And while I agree that Thabo is clearly the better defender, comparing dRtg across teams is always problematic. I always look at the player relative to the rest of their team instead and I find that to be a more reliable means of comparison.

SO with Thabo Sefolosha, his team ranges from 98 to 106 and he's near the top at 101. That's very good. With Ben McLemore, the Kings range from 103 to 113 (Moreland hasn't played enough minutes to count) and he's at 110 which is near the bottom. If Ben were to be traded to Atlanta and maintain his relative position he's probably at about 105 on that team so the comparison is 101 to 105 not 101 to 110. And if Thabo were traded to Sacramento and maintained his relative position he would be at about 106 so the comparison there is 106 to 110. Either way it's about the same. Thabo is a better defender, but not by the huge margin that the raw numbers imply.

Cavs Holding Ryan Anderson Trade Talks With Pelicans
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/240849/Cavs-Holding-Ryan-Anderson-Trade-Talks-With-Pelicans

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain active in trade talks, discussing a Ryan Anderson deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Anderson will be a free agent in the offseason and the Pelicans would like to move him before the deadline.
The Cavaliers are also considering a three-team deal that includes Kevin Love.

I know alot of people around here were hoping to sign Ryan Anderson in the offseason. I wonder how much truth there is to this and also wonder if we could be potentially be out of the running if we don't manage to trade for him before the deadline. Something to think about and watch unfold I guess.

Excellent analysis, though i would argue that just from a veteran standpoint, Thabo is a smarter player, and likely a smarter defender. BMac is athletic, but i don't think BBall IQ is really one of his strongest areas, which i think Thabo excels in. He has been a starter on contending teams, and i bet from a purely instinctual standpoint, he knows what to do while Ben tends to fade b/c he's not sure how to make himself useful.

I've actually wanted Thabo on this team for a while, and unfortunately i think he may be slightly on the downside age wise at this point, but i might be willing to see what it would take to pry him from Atlanta

If were interested in getting better now, then obtaining Pau would be a good idea. Not sure what the Bulls want for him, but I'd like the rights to our draft pick back in any deal we do with them.
I personally would love to see what DMC could do with Pau on the court. That would be a lot of skill in a twin towers package. Sorta reminiscent of Vlade and #4. Thing is - I get the impression it would be tough to re-sign him.

Thabo is an expiring but if it is all about THIS season, then you do it.

I wonder if Vlade/Vivek still strongly believes we will make the playoffs. We have to win about 20 of the next 30 and have a lot of luck with the other teams losing a good chunk of games in order to have a chance. Too much to give up for a rental. Unless Thabo indicates he is interested in signing an extension.

Vlade is overwhelmed. I'm kinda disappointed in him. It has been year after year after year after year after year... of patience patience patience patience patience. I hoped Vlade would be different.

But it's the same ol same ol: "no deal is better than a bad deal... blah blah blah blah blah." We're so in love with our piece of crap assets that we are paralyzed. We are freaking paralyzed because we're afraid parting with Ben, or KK, or Marco ... that THESE will be mistakes that hurt a lot? wtf?? You can't be very far wrong if you try something with those pieces. They ain't doing crap here.

Meanwhile we get outflanked by people who are quicker on the draw.

I loved and still love the salary dump with Philly. But did it make Vlade gun shy?

Come on now Vlade... astonish me.

please???

Kevin Love is in an odd situation right now but he Boogie would be an absolute nightmare to deal with on the offensive end. The Kings are not a very good basketball team and getting Love at a reasonable price for the next few seasons would be a no brainer. We need talent. Love is very talented. End of story. I don't need to get into the xs and os for you on this one.

Reasonable price? Have you taken a look at his contract? Kevin Love is the ultimate empty stats guy and plays zero defense. He is a good spot up shooter but for a guy who only plays one side of the floor. We are a terrible defensive team and you want to add Love huh. Now thats the end of that story.
