What if: Starring Rudy Gay.

Clearly we're on the hunt for a SF. Last season, Rudy Gay's name was thrown about; he was underperforming in Memphis, but was back to some of his form in Toronto.

Now, word is, Toronto is looking to clear him from the roster.

Thornton + Thompson, or Jimmer, or whoever to Toronto for Gay? Detroit tried to throw them Stuckey + C-Vill, so maybe we should try that.

That trade isn't bad (Especially since they shipped off Bargnani, they could use Thompson), we could re-sign Evans and get our SF.

Thoughts?

No thanks.

I am not as against this idea as some, but a lot of it depends on how incorrigible Gay is. If he is going to come in and want to fight Cousins for shots, that doesn't work. Otherwise, he's extrememly overpriced, but if we brought back Reke it would be three major talents in the starting lineup, not including our lottery pick this year. Biggest problem then is that Gay is not a passer, so it would be putting tremendous pressure on Reke to channel his inner Nash.

A guy like Ak47 is a better fit if we can get him.

I enjoy watching Gay play and that actually means a lot to me... he plays an entertaining brand of ball. Aside from that he commands too big a salary for what he does imo... Tyreke, Demarcus, and Ben... those are our scorers to build around.

Tyreke's basketball IQ is like a childs compared to Nash. Vasquez off a S&T would be nice with Cousins, Gay and McLemore.

so you don't want Reke at 11M a year, but don't have a problem with Gay and his ludicrous deal? why? is it because we still aren't quite sure how good Reke is, whereas with Gay, we at least know he's useless?
