What happened to loyalty to your team?

I'm sorry. I'm sure I may regret saying this but I am heartily tired of some of the crap being posted on this board under the guise of criticism.

I am a KINGS fan. That doesn't change because someone has a bad night or we lose a close game. My fan loyalty doesn't depend on whether the team wins or loses.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!! I love the excitement of well-played basketball, which we saw tonight.

Perfect? No, of course not. There is no perfection in this game I've loved for over 40 years. It was exciting, with ups and downs, lead changes, and good hard play. That's what basketball is all about.

The Kings have hit a rough patch. They've lost four in a row - heart-breaking games in more than one instance. That's not the end of the world.

I may be alone but I'm still going to support this team AND I'm going to do it without making snide, unsubstantiated comments about any of the players. They wear the uniform of my favorite team and I think they deserve at least a modicum of support.

Do you think they enjoyed losing their fourth game in a row? Do you think they did it just to pee you off? Instead of acting like it's the end of the world and your night is ruined, think about them. They were robbed. They fought hard on the second night of a brutal back-to-back and at the last moment all their efforts went for naught because of ANOTHER non-call.

Instead of berating them, I would sure like to see people supporting them. I am still going to be a homer Kings fan. If anything, tonight's game has strengthened my resolve.

It's really easy, I suppose, to point fingers at a couple of players. Pedja hasn't been playing well and Cuttino is new. Well, so what? They are part of this team and they wear the same uniform as the rest of the team. Geoff Petrie and Rick Adelman support them and that's good enough for me.

Criticism is one thing, but to come out and say they shouldn't be Kings is just wrong.

Okay, I'm done...

I'll post here because I agree with you. Some of the fans on this board need to look the definition of the word "Fan" up in the dictionary.

If we got rid of everyone that a fan has said on this board should go... the Maloofs, Petrie and a few custodians would have to suit up.

just stand up and brush your shoulders off VF...thats what ive been doing...not too mention thats what the kings have been doing and have to continue to do

i personally hate how people are so high and mighty over a player..saying "oh they're the best....they rule...them for prez" we have APPRECIATION threads for the players after a great win....and then the next day they lose and SOME of those same people are saying "im losing faith in the team"..."so and so's gotta go"..."i hate him" blah blah blah blah blah BLAH

i dunno but to me those sound like fairweather-fans...and i really hate to have to discuss the game of basketball with these types of fans

if you really like this team as much as you claim to...you better stick by there side and stay in their corner...they need us there supporting them

i think Kings fans are the best fans in ALL OF SPORTS...but if i were trying to prove that to an outsider...bringing them to kingsfans over the past week is not gonna prove a thing

I for one still love this team...with every inch of my basketball heart (yes i have a basketball heart--its purple btw)...and im sticking with them threw think and thin

I LOVE THIS GAME!!

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!

GO KINGS!!

I agree 100%. There are so many things about this board that I love, but it depresses me to no end that every time we lose the game I can predict seeing at least one "sky is falling""we are horrible" thread, and another thread about who we should trade. It never fails. I think that's horrible.

Analyzing what we did well and poorly on a given night is interesting, but acting outraged and angry at the players and wanting to get rid of them is just ridiculous. These players got to the NBA by being so competitive that they poured their lives into this sport. Do people think they don't want to win? After a loss like this I always think how upset I am, and I can't imagine how the players feel. This team gives their heart & soul out their every night, and they deserve our respect and support EVERY night.

I know I mean Peja is coming back from a back injury for gods sake, How many smiles has he brought to your face over the years? How many games has he carried us? I think I'm going to have to take a break from the board because I'm like borderline ready to just start insulting people!(that deserve it.)

I agree with you VF21. Although I haven't been a Kings fan nor a fan of bball as long as you (not tryin to make you sound old), I never understood how fans could turn on their teams so fast. I mean if you really consider yourself a fan you would support the team win or lose. Of course you can be upset at times when they lose but calling for players to be traded and saying the current lineup has no chance in winning a ring is just wrong.

I love this team, win or lose. Why can't everyone else.

I despise the personal attacks on the players, but also do not think
personal attacks on the posters is necessary. Sheesh.. it has been a really tough week and some people vent differently than others. They probably come here to blow off steam and they will be over it tomorrow. It really bothers me that we are all supposed to be Kings fans here, but yet if someone vents in a way that someone doesn't like... the very people who abhor personal attacks on the players take a shot at kingsfans posters. :(

Sports is a tough business. A lot of fans see it as the team turning on them.

I am not going to judge someone and say oh they cannot be a fan. I don't know them, their personality. Some people go negative when they are upset and frustrated that is just their personality. I don't like the personal attacks on the players but I am not going to question who is or isn't a fan based on their comments. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they vent differently than me. Why can't people give their two cents. You do not have to like everything that is said on this board. You are not going to like all the people that come to this board. But, I feel if they do not break any rules they should be able to post their feelings without being insulted or judged as NOT a true Kings fan. Only they know the extent of their love for this team. As for me I find it hard to understand how someone cannot love this team, and I don't understand their need for the personal attacks, but I do think they should be allowed to do so.

I don't think there is anything personal about this thread. No names mentioned that I can see. We should let anyone have their opinion and say whatever they want but then not be able to offer our own opinion if it's about certain kinds of uninformed idiotic posts?

You did, however, get personal in another thread. I was speaking generally about all the posting.
where? I didn't get personal with anybody that didn't get personal first. I defended VF when somebody was attacking her thats all. You seriously don't see anything ironic about defending everybodys right to state their opinion unless it's about the content of someone elses post?

The main thing is that you can be very critical of players without resorting to some of the pure bashing I've seen around here lately. My only point is that a very few posters on this board seem to relish in bashing a player, especially after a loss, and I find it abysmal. I'm not talking about the people who bring criticism. They have every right to their opinion whether I agree with it or not.

The getting personal stuff is wrong. I didn't mention any names and I made very certain my comments were general in nature. If people want to respond and agree or disagree, fine.

But please, could we keep the personal attacks against each other AND against our players out of this?

Random thought....

I saw the title of this thread again and out of nowhere the theme song to the TV show "Family matters" pop in my head....Ahh, the things that go on in my mind. I tell you, it scares me sometimes.

Sorry VF.. I was not talking about you in my post. I know you did not insult any posters. I was referring to some of the other posters. That is the downside of the internet, a persons intentions sometimes get lost in translation. All I was trying to do was call and end to personal attacks on the players and the posters.

Is there anyway to send a letter or email to the team? We could write a huge motivational letter to them and let them now we love them and stuff and let them know we still believe and love each and everyone one of them, or something like that.

Criticism is one thing and bashing is another. I love the idea of trade conversations and all of that stuff but I hate when people keep bashing the players as people. It takes an interesting conversation and brings it in the dumpster. Webber misses a free throw and to some people he is a "headcase". Where is the reasoning in that?

My criticism isn't a guise. Mindless support is no better than constant whining.

And what leads you to believe any of my comments were about you?

this whole thing is just wrong on so many levels.

There's no need for the "mindless support" comment at all.

THANK YOU!!!

^That is exactly the type of thing I'm talking about.
