What happened to loyalty to your team?

What gripes so many here and elsewhere is that some folks' opinions consistently take on an almost "personal" affront to things that the coaching staff or players do. That's the part I really don't get. The coaches are ALWAYS doing their best to win, and so are the players. There are some things about certain players' games I don't like, but I also realize that every player will not give you everything you're looking for...

...Don't hate players. Don't hate coaches. Don't spit venom. Don't make it so personal. Say your piece, make your points, and then refresh the screen to see if it sticks.

Word up.

I'm sorry. I'm sure I may regret saying this but I am heartily tired of some of the crap being posted on this board under the guise of criticism.

I am a KINGS fan. That doesn't change because someone has a bad night or we lose a close game. My fan loyalty doesn't depend on whether the team wins or loses.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!! I love the excitement of well-played basketball, which we saw tonight.

Perfect? No, of course not. There is no perfection in this game I've loved for over 40 years. It was exciting, with ups and downs, lead changes, and good hard play. That's what basketball is all about.

The Kings have hit a rough patch. They've lost four in a row - heart-breaking games in more than one instance. That's not the end of the world.

I may be alone but I'm still going to support this team AND I'm going to do it without making snide, unsubstantiated comments about any of the players. They wear the uniform of my favorite team and I think they deserve at least a modicum of support.

Do you think they enjoyed losing their fourth game in a row? Do you think they did it just to pee you off? Instead of acting like it's the end of the world and your night is ruined, think about them. They were robbed. They fought hard on the second night of a brutal back-to-back and at the last moment all their efforts went for naught because of ANOTHER non-call.

Instead of berating them, I would sure like to see people supporting them. I am still going to be a homer Kings fan. If anything, tonight's game has strengthened my resolve.

It's really easy, I suppose, to point fingers at a couple of players. Pedja hasn't been playing well and Cuttino is new. Well, so what? They are part of this team and they wear the same uniform as the rest of the team. Geoff Petrie and Rick Adelman support them and that's good enough for me.

Criticism is one thing, but to come out and say they shouldn't be Kings is just wrong.

Okay, I'm done...

Trust me, I'm a huge Kings fan. I live and die with this team. However, I refuse to put on my "Kings shades" and by not giving due criticism. Yes, there was blatant goaltending Friday night, but I don't think the game should've ever even come down to that. The team had just lost 3 straight; this was a game at home they HAD to win. It's a game you have to win by about 10 points or so. It's not a game that should come down to the last shot. For the last few years, the Kings hosting a team like Dallas would not be "anyone's game". I am a big Kings fan and I quite frankly, expect more out of this team. They've already lost too many games at home this year. There was no excuse for letting the Lakers come into town and letting them walk all over them. The Kings have also blown close home games to both Seattle and Phoenix to name a few. Those are the games you simply cannot afford to lose if you have any hope of catching the Suns or even at least getting home court in the first round against Dallas with the 4 seed.

Please don't give me any of this, "but it was a back to back" garbage. I for one don't understand why it's so hard to play the game of basketball 2 nights in a row. Suck it up and play.

This team has been entertaining and fun to watch for past 5-6 seasons. I'm past the point where I want my team to entertain me. I want them to actually win. It's time they get their acts together, stop giving games away, and start playing some kind of defense!

I wasn't talking about fans who give valid criticism. I was talking about - AS I SAID - "some of the crap being posted on this board under the guise of criticism."

If you read further, you'll also see that I made it abundantly clear that "Criticism is one thing, but to come out and say (specific players) shouldn't be Kings is just wrong.

Entertaining to watch for 5-6 seasons? Cool. I've been watching for 20 years. If you don't find it entertaining unless they win, then you wouldn't have made it in the lean years.

If you want to talk specifics, fine. There is no reason, however, for you to snipe at me with the "Kings shades" comments. I have more than paid my dues as a Kings fan and I have no problem whatsoever on getting after a FEW people (not referring to you at this point) who come to this board and continually berate, deride, villefy, etc. specific players.

I think you'll agree that this team is just alittle bit more talented than the Kings teams of the lean years. For the current 4-game losing streak they've been playing under their potential. They've been making too many turnovers, missed free throws, and overall lack of defense. I have no problem as long as the team is playing up to it's ability.

You seem just alittle bit sensitive to any kind of criticism directed to you or any of the Kings players. Did you used to post on the Kings ESPN board as Valerie or something like that?

Even the best fan is allowed to express concern, annoyance, anger at their team. It just shows how much they really do like this team, that it gets under their skin when they lose. If someone misses two free throws, does a fan not have the right to go OOO BRAD! HOW CAN YOU MISS THOSE!!! AHH!!!! If a person gets angry, that just means they care... And so what if a certain person thinks a player needs to go? If someone thinks a player isn't giving effort, then they have every right to say that this guy doesn't need to be there...(most often the target is Peja) Peja said he WANTED TO LEAVE, and has not rescinded it to this day, and everyone on this board must admit, he's not trying as hard as he was last year, he's not shooting as well, and some games his effort is lackluster. Simply saying that he needs to go isn't wrong at all. You still love Peja, as do I, but he DID say he wanted off this team, yet you look past it, but a guy posts that he just wants him off the team for the benefit of the team and he's not a loyal fan? Ridiculous...

I think you are missing the point. Yes, we all get upset when a person misses a FT or throws the ball away, etc. But, here at KingsFans.com we do not want those kinds of criticism to carry over into bashing the person, etc.

WE NEED LOT MORE THREADS LIKE THIS ONE. I am very disappointed with most comments in some other threads...... I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is really no need to push it too far.

Way to go VF!! and way to go everyone who has not lost faith in this team!

Typically I try to avoid threads that exist only criticize spesific palyers or the coach, they are compleelty unproductive and realy only serve to make the poster releave some frustration and feel smart for a few min. (Obviously this is not one of those threads). Do I offer up my opionon about a palers effectiveness? sure. Do I offer what I think would be ways to for players to improve their game? yes. Do I suggest possible trades that might improve the team? ocasionaly, usualy in the off season.

But what I think is most important as a dedicated fan is to support the players we have. Over the past few seasons, and espcially last year in the play offs I was incessened by people who baged on Webber. The guy has done phenominal tings for the franchise and as fans we owe him not just love when he hits, but support when he iks struggleing. What ever Pedja is going through is something we as fans ought to support him during.

It's a fine line between offering suggestions in a supportive way and criticizing players for struggeling. I choose to stay in the possitive, root for what ever guys are wearing a Kings uni and to always wnat to see the team do well. So if you dont see my opinions in threads dedicated to criticism and hate, dont mistake my indefferance for approval. I jsut refuse to fight fire with gasoline.

Nope.

And if you're used to posting at any of the ESPN boards, you're going to have to tone it down a bit here.

Criticism is fine, but taking down to a personal name-calling level isn't. I strongly suggest you spend a little time reading some of the past threads. We manage to have VERY GOOD discussions without slurs on a player's manhood, sarcastic attacks at other members, etc.

We have a very knowledgeable group of members here. Come here to talk hoops and bring good discussion and you're truly welcome. Come here and want to make it another ESPN board and I think you'll find the welcome mat pulled out from under you. It's really that simple.

It's a frustrating thing to see your team lose

It's excitement to see your team win.

Praise and criticism are encouraged by all, that's what fans do.

Being disrespectful to players, coaches, and fans alike are not needed.

I'm happy to be a Kings fan, through wins, losses, blowouts, and nail-biters.

I'm happy to be a Kings fan, and found my soon-to-be husband is a Kings fan too.

I'm happy to be a Kings fan, who really doesn't care that I'm in New York.

Happy to be a Kings fan, first and foremost :)

Thank You.

I, too agree. However, as a longtime fan that spends over $3,000.00 a year
on season tickets, beer, snacks and other merchandise, I have paid to have the right to say ALMOST anything I want. I do have enough integrity not use personal attacks on any player or coach. Say pretty much what you want but just continue to support the Kings.
