So, that's you're rational? An Arena? a stable front office? the Kings have had a strong history with Euros? Really? That comment is a real stretch. Supermax.? All those reasons you outlined mean squat. Sorry, players look at the stability of the organization, winning tradition, and current talent base.
On the contrary, If I am Doncic, Sac does not look too desirable. Let's not candy coat the reality.
My point is we shouldn't sell ourselves short. Why is playing in Sacramento, capital of California, and calling one of the best arenas in the league, with a passionate, loyal and loud fan base any less appealing than going playing in a big market where you are constantly under the microscope and will be criticized for the smallest thing?
Imagine how Cousins would have been treated in New York or Los Angeles. He would have been run out of town because they wouldn't have been as patient and supporting as we were. Now that might not mean anything because these players can always go elsewhere, but typically smaller market teams like ours can be more supportive places to play and come with less of a spotlight which can be a good thing early in your career unless you want that spotlight and the bright lights of a big market (ie Lonzo Ball).
Now I agree that players want to join a stable team with a winning history. Post-Webber we have struggled but we look to be on the right track now. So if Doncic or whoever our pick is comes here and does for us what Webber and co did, they'll have their jersey in the rafters. A winner can exist in this market if the front office do their job and playing here is not a punishment or less appealing than anywhere else. We need to stop selling ourselves short, but again that might be with some Kings bias coming in.
