what pisses me off the most about horry is that he can suck for an entire game, but hit the one shot that kills ya. its one thing to be clutch, its another thing entirely to be clutch when you're out of rhythm. horry's made a name for himself in the nba as a big play maker. its what he is. he'll draw the charge in the waning moments of a close game, make a defensive stop when his team needs it, or hit the game winner. he loves crunch time. i respect him for his ability to come up big time and time again, but i still "hate" him for 2002. just doesnt seem fair...
That would make him the polar opposite of Peja.

yea he's definitely clutch. the man makes it when they count... he's always been a solid role player, especially in the lakers championship runs. he just has nerves of steel when he's called upon. that and a bit of luck always helps.

To answer the original question -- right up there. I certainly can't think of anybody who's ever done it better. As soon as that ball bounced to him in '02 I KNEW it was over. Anybody but him. Hell, give Kobe that shot before you give it to Horry. But I think the thing that has really elevated him is that he has such a rep, and has played for so many championship teams, that he is one of the very few non-superstar players that you actually WANT to take that shot even over your better players. And he's had so many big stages to display that clutch ability on. If the Spurs finish it off this yer he's going to have as many rings as Jordan.

Right now, I think the Spurs fans are willing to put up with their "horrible freethrow shooting team"... A team cannot be perfect. With what the Spurs are showing right now, I think not hitting some free throws is something they could improve but they're certainly doing okay as they are...

I have that same love hate relationship with Horry too. I hate what he did to the Kings. He was a senior at Bama my freshman year. Really nice guy. He came to a legends basketball game at Bama a few years ago and he was the only one still signing autographs during the game when he wasn't playing. He also played in the game when a couple of other NBA players just showed up to watch. He played center a lot in college so he was always up against players bigger than he was. I think he holds the record at Bama for most 3 pointers made by a center.
So, Bob - Roll Tide, but when I think of you in that Lakers jersey it made me want to puke.
