What did Paul Westphal mean with last night's "no comment" remark on Kevin Martin?

After last night's loss to the Suns, Paul Westphal was asked about Kevin Martin's shooting and what was going on. Westphal just cut him off and said "I'm not going to comment on that until I get a chance to look at the game further." Westphal made it clear he did not want to talk about Martin. Is there anything to be read into this? Is Westphal just done with Martin?

I think PW is just tired of getting asked the same question over and over. K-Mart is a very good shooter but he just happens to be in a slump

What's new? He dodges every question about him and addresses every other player.

Westphal isn't inclined to talk specifics about a player that might be negative. He'll make negative comments about how the team played in general. Or he'll single out a specific area like interior defense, but won't mention a particular player.

In Martins case there wasn't much he could say that would have been positive, so he declined to talk to the press about it. If you want to keep the loyality of the players, you can't throw them under the bus publicly. If you pay attention on how he talks about Thompson of late, he still tries to put a positive spin on it.

Martin's name is one that is being thrown around the most through out the league right now with trade rumors. I truly believe that this is the reason Martin is struggling so much. If he is not traded, I fully expect him to get back to his old self as soon as the deadline passes.

Well because at least Thompson looks like he's trying out there. I must say, Kevin looks to be completely tuned out lately.

What is there to say at this point?

Every night he has been making some rather ridiculous excuses for Kevin, and its just not coming around. I think he was probably just tired of it. Is he tired of Kevin? Possibly. You put yourself out there for somebody and are not rewarded for it, see a good thing go back, its not going to fill you wiht the warm and fuzzies. And right after a game you just got spanked in you are going to be snippy anyway. But I'm sure he's tired of having to make excuses every night, so there doesn't have to be anything beyond that.
