What are you watching on TV?

Dog Whisperer on National Geographic (actually, right now I'm watching Cleveland vs. Orlando) but man, I love Cesar Milan. I've completely retrained my dogs just from watching his show.

Yes, Eureka returns on 7/10 to finish off Season 3 with 10 more episodes. I just started watching the first two seasons on DVD, and I DVR'd a marathon of the first half of Season 3, so I'll be caught up before it comes back.

I've watched "Serenity" three times now. Really a kick-*** film.
 
I've been watching a lot of comedy stuff today. Christopher Titus really cracks me up and I'm watching his special "Love is Evol" at the moment. After it's over, I'll be sticking with Comedy Central for Louis C.K.'s "Shameless."

It's kind of a tough sell to recommend a show whose premise is a highschool teacher dying of cancer and becoming a meth dealer. However, if you're willing to follow a show that can be uncomfortable and unsettling, Breaking Bad just concluded one of the most stunningly brilliant seasons of television ever.

The abbreviated (7 episode) season one was very good once you get past a couple of harsh moments in the early episodes, but I was unprepared for the soaring heights the show would reach in season two. The writing, ensemble acting and cinematography are all top notch. If Bryan Cranston deserved his Emmy for the first season (and he did) he should get a special quadruple Emmy for this year. The acting is amazing all around, with special notice due to two very surprising guest star performances by John de Lancie (Q from Star Trek: TNG :eek:) and Bob Odenkirk (from Mr. Show).

For me, it's among the three best shows currently on TV by a wide margin, alongside Mad Men and Dexter, and Breaking Bad just put out the best single season among them so far.

I love this show. I always DVR it. He is so informative and funny.
 
Life After People - The History Channel. This week they're looking at what would happen in Las Vegas if people just disappeared - poof - off the face of the earth. Pretty interesting concept. They start 24 hours after people and project outward in increasingly large increments of time, usually ending some 50,000 years after people. They talk about what structures last, how they fail, how long various things like traffic lights, etc. work ... Right now, they're showing the Wax Museum and what will happen to the figures once the temperatures start to rise inside.
 
I've been watching the new Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

I've actually always been a huge fan of his and am glad he is getting this opportunity. However, I do miss going to bed on Thursdays to ER, KCRA and Jay Leno. :(

I've always liked Conan too, but I like Leno a lot more. And am I the only 1 who thinks Jimmy Fallon is TERRIBLE?? :confused: He's good on SNL but man, I can barely even watch his show.
 
I'll take Craig Ferguson over Fallon. I dunno, I just don't think Fallon was cut out for that gig. I didn't realize how good Leno and Conan back-to-back was until now, even though I haven't consistenly watched either of them in a few years.
 
Yeah I do agree with the Leno/Conan duo. No other networks had or currently have that 1-2 punch.

I also like Carson Daly better than Fallon.
 
Jimmy Fallon should never have left SNL. He was truly one of the best on that show; in this gig, however, he's among the worst of all the late-night hosts. I like Craig Ferguson, too...
 
Sunset Boulevard - 1950 - William Holden and Gloria Swanson. A true classic film that I still find riveting. There's something about black and white films that today's movies simply cannot equal. Effective use of light and shadow is pretty much a lost art now...
 
Jesse James is a Dead Man - I sure hope his insurance is paid up! Nitro motorcycle, high speed pursuit with a hopped up Mustang against Orange County cops and now taking a beefed up bike on the Ice Road BEFORE the road is solidified??? I love this show!!!
 
I just realised that, whoever at abc made the decision to cancel Pushing Daisies, needs to be hanged, or at least yelled at for an hour or so. This show is so massively addicting and the end was just incredibly rushed. Far too many threads that still need picking up what about the pie-maker's dad, or Chuck's dad for that matter? What exactly happens with Emerson Cod's daughter, or that new/re-born family of Chuck and her aunts? So many question, so little hope for answers, it's frustrating. I'll be holding out for the film, I hope it will a) actually be made and b) not disappoint.
 
I have yet to watch the last ep, but you are right jalfa. Though it is amazing that a show as offbeat like Pushing Daisies ever aired in the first place. When it was gone the first time I was sad but my DVR breathed a little as I didn't have to scramble to watch everything I recorded. But these final eps really reminded me what a fantastic show it was. On the other hand I'm glad they didn't totally mangle the show in a failed attempt to survive like many other favorites, it kept its charm all the way until the end.

Not TV, as such, but I just spent the last three days watching the complete first season of Leverage on my computer, via TNT.tv. I really dig that show; it kind of reminds me of the A-Team, only with Face and Murdoch replaced by hot chicks.

I'd nearly suggest you spare yourself the last episode, as it's basically just a rushed attempt at closure, but I know that's something I can't ask of you ;). Thus far, I've been lucky, in that most of my favourite shows have enjoyed long runs (Six Feet Under and Gilmore Girls for instance), and there's just Firefly that I'd want to complain about, being cut short. But when it happens, it just royally sucks.
 
I've been wanting to check out 2 new shows but haven't been able to just yet. Does anyone have any opinions on:

Hawthorne (TNT)

and

The Philanthropist (NBC)

??
 
Hawthorne was disappointing. I like Jada Pinkett Smith but I think the show suffers from pretty bad writing. The cast is strong, however, so if they can do something about the scripts they might improve.
