Wes Wilcox leaving for University of Utah job

It sounds like a definite step down in terms of career, but undoubtedly will bring less stress to a family with young children.

Who will help Monte McNair in the prep for draft night? The Kings will not have a first-round pick this year, but still...

Monte's about to shock us all and introduce a cloned-version of himself to step into the role that is now vacated due to Wes's departure.

By most accounts, Monte was in charge of the draft process and Wes was in charge of deals so the draft process probably won’t be that affected.

Interesting. I’m all for a more streamlined hierarchy. Is this what we are dealing with or is the Shiii about to hit the fan and everyone is getting out before that happens?

It's a little odd that both Loucks and Wilcox have now left with the season still going on. I can't remember what the rumors were but it was something about someone at the GM position wanted Brown to fire Loucks right? Interesting, the party lines might end up revealing themselves.

Yeh it’s hard to say if the walls are crumbling or if these were just the right opportunities for these guys. Loucks played at Florida state and his family is from there so that makes a lot of sense. The ESPN article on Wes said that the current Utah coach was hired by Wilcox in a previous stint and that because of the NIL, these college jobs are seen as more professional. The article predicted we would see more of these situations. Maybe we already have with Bill Belichick in Carolina and the BYU program is being built out as an NBA pipeline. Plus, there is generally more stability in the college game which would be appealing, especially for those with kids.

Yeah, you could take this two ways. Either Monte is fully consolidating power, getting out any of the old other power structure guys (Brown/Loucks/Wes) or this thing is getting fully torn down this off-season with a full new organization.

We certainly aren't going to have an off-season where signing "Glen Robinson III" is our most exciting move, that's for sure

I don’t see how Monte survives losing Fox then the team collapsing out of the play in when the suns did everything possible give us the tenth seed

Don’t think it was ever confirmed but my assumption is that they wanted Triano gone or to otherwise make moves to bump Doug up to lead assistant to put him next in line post-MB. Obviously they just went ahead and did it anyways

Don't worry, Anjali will be hiring herself for the job any minute now.
Hey assuming the Christie promotion was a Ranadive family move we at least won’t be doing the coach-before-GM thing again

Unless we promote Lamb and he decides to beef with Doug. At least maybe we’d finally get a full tank? “Lamb to the Slaughter” could be a good catchphrase for our 5 win season

not that I’m down on the org right now or anything lol

Abandon ship!! Smart money says they are bailing out because they don’t want to go down with ship. Obvious front office/ ownership/lockerroom friction. If there is a way to sabotage this team the front office/ownership will be guaranteed to find a way to screw it up. No wonder this team is the league lauging stock. How far we’ve fallen in two years.

It absolutely has a rats-fleeing-the-ship vibe to it. Even if he was Mormon (don't know), it would still have that vibe.
