We're playing without our best player

Any questions?

Say what you want, Kevin Martin is our best player. Heart breaking loss, but don't throw our team under the bridge until Martin comes back.

.....( does a spit take)

1. Tyreke is by far our best player. Its really not even close. Without Tyreke last night we'd have lost by 25.

2. It wasn't a heart breaking loss. The game had loss written all over it. Clear as day during the first quarter.

I've searched "last possession" in google and the first thing I came up with was "
"What happend to the King's last possession?"

That topic specific was about the last game with the Lakers but it fits to almost every lost we have.

It's interesting what does it really says on the team, what is the real problem, I'm as a fan simply don't know.

The team is young. This team doesn't have even one big time vet right now. Beno, Noc, Ime don't cut it. None of them can come to the young guys and tell them :what the hell are you doing?dunk the ball already. Or, stop playing out of control you are ruining the offensive flow.

This is certainly about internal growth, but a couple of moves are also required to take the team to the next level. Not just position specific. you need a couple of quality vets just for the sake of making the team more mature and experienced. Maybe KM and cisco can help with that.

All this talk about not learning from the mistakes is ridiculous. Teams that young can go through a bunch of losing seasons before you see major
improvement.

Nooooo, Kings best player is on the quest, searching for a magic wand that would make him a PG.:D

I will say what I want, and namely that you are a bit confused. Our best player is a rookie. By quite a bit actually. Not even in the same class of players.

We are playing without a very good scorer. But then again last night aside scoring has not been the issue.

well we did suck our way to 101 points with evans as a pg... and had a pretty nice sized lead before the team fell apart.

Is the spit take the one where you're drinking water and then spray it out, or the one where you're a tough guy and kind of spit to the side in derision? Either way works for this I think.

Martin wasn't a great player last year because we couldn't win. Evans can't be a great player until he can be part of a team that wins more than the Kings are right now. Lots of talent with this team but the measure is victories. Hopefully we will get more in the future, hopefully, the immediate future. The Kings team is being held back by the play of its members, each and all of them. Again, I'm looking for a brighter future. The future starts today.

The Greatness of a player isnt measured by the success of his team. Since basketball is a team sport, games are won by teams. Not individual players. Therefor the number of wins a team gains has no barring on the level of any individual player. Its flawed espn reasoning.

Oh yeah, I've got questions...

1. What are you talking about????? Kevin Martin, as much as I like him - and always have - is NOT our best player at this point in time. And, when things are going the way they should be going, I don't want him to be our best player. Martin is perfectly built to be a second or third option, a go-to guy who is able to hit daggers from outside at any point and can also pretty much get to the line at will.

2. You think this is a heart-breaking loss? Nope, not even close. It was frustrating, but a heart-breaking loss is a loss to a team in OT of game 7 in the WCF. This isn't even in the same chapter, let alone on the same page.

Those are just the obvious two questions...

Kevin Martin is our best and most efficient offensive player right now...
Tyreke can get to the rim with the best of em, but Martin can get to the line on command and is by far our best shooter. Not only that, he moves much better without the ball.

This argument is pretty lame though. This is a team. It's not about who is better. Personally I can't wait to see Kevin and Tyreke feed off of each other. If you think Tyreke can get to the rim now, watch when Kevin is camped out beyond the arc. No more of this easy triple team bull****.

I fail to see your logic. Martin was a great player on a bad team last year. Plain and simple. I can't wait until he comes back I think some people have forgotten how great of a scorer he can be. I am a huge Evans fan too no need to compare our two best players. =)

I might be wrong, but I think you and pshn80 are actually on the same side based on reading all his other posts...

Just sayin...

I think we are too I was just pointing out that excluding Martin from being a great player based on the team's record is...questionable.

I think what he was saying is that Martin would have been considered great if the team had done better but that since they stunk so badly, his performance wasn't appreciated.

Does that make sense?

I apologize for being as indirect as I often am. My point is that the qualities that go into making a player great, outstanding, all star, etc. include the ability to help make their teammates and their team better. In this sense I believe our potentially great Evans, like Martin, has a ways to go. I generally enjoy the process, the necessary growth period, like last year and this year, but in the end the test answer is winning basketball games and then winning more than you lose, etc. Let's not crown Tyreke until his time. In the meantime lets enjoy him and hope that he and Martin and the rest click more than not.

Glad you clarified it. I don't think I captured the real essence of what you were trying to say.

:)

Off topic question:
When is Garcia coming back? Nobody even talks about him anymore...

Report last week suggested that he had actually returned to practice ahead of Kevin, but that it mgiht take him longer to be ready for real games. Still sounded like this month though maybe, which is well ahead of initial predictions.

NO, say what you want! :) Tyreke is our best player. We now have that franchise player we've always talked about martin not being.
