Welcome Omri Casspi

i whould say his kirilenko and nocioni together :)

Is he a good shotblocker? because most of his highlights are mostly dunks and running the fastbreak, what i wanted to see was this guys defense and if he has that prince/kirilenko like blocks where they come from nowhere to block a shot....cause im pretty sure with his length and athleticsm he could do those things, never seen those type of highlights from him though...

Oh,and i love the fact that he dunks the ball most of the time rather than settling for soft plays...

Imagine the Sergio to Omri alley oops like what Sergio and Rudy usually do in portland... im pretty much excited to watch kings game's already!!!

Casspi is not a good shotblocker, but he has potential to be good defender and maybe also good shotblocker.

A time will come, i don't belive it will be during his first season, but a time will come when Omri will get comfortable & confident - i hope he doesn't get too many technicals blown aginst him for arguing with the refs - i've seen him get right in the face of referees.
In Israel, he takes **** from no-one - i'm wondering how he'll handle himself in this area in the NBA.

This is what i'm worried about!

If he does that against kobe and the lakers i would pretty much welcome that ;)

Once he gets used playing in the league and gaining confidence in himself, i can see that potential blooming.....

I'm not worried about it. As long as he doesn't go Brad Miller on us and get technicals in a tied overtime game. We need someone to get in the officials face once in a while for all the BS they give us. It can be a good "fire up" for a team. For some reason I already find myself really liking Omri. I haven't seen him play or anything but this pick kind of reminds me of the Peja/Hedo picks and I have a feeling him will flourish like they did. Mabye not as good as a shooter (mabye he will be eventually) but he has other things going for him.

I wouldn't worry about that aspect of his game. Omri is a smart player, he'll get a feel for it. One word from the coaching staff and I believe it'll be OK. It's a matter of adjustment.

In Israel and in Europe he pretty much knew his limits, so most of the time he just "bordered on the technical".

However, players' temper is the same everywhere, so his trash-talk will probably remain the same ;)

I will buy his jersey and he will instantly become my favorite player if he gets right into Kobe's grill and makes Kobe get intimidated ala Artest in Kobe's face.

english in israel

For someone who wondered about his english here, I didn't even know he came over for workouts with us.

about English,
the coaches in Israel speak english with the players, the reason is that the amount of american players participate in the Israeli league is huge.
a lot of college players who didn't succeed to make it to the NBA, a lot of NBA players who didn't succeed to become a real threat in the NBA.

a lot player prefer Israel over Europe because of the nice warm weather, the no stopping nightlife of Tel-Aviv and the fact that everybody here speaks English (sometimes like a stammerer but still- english :)), for instance, in Spain (which is probably the best league in europe) the players will have to learn spanish... or get a translator :)

another "plus" the Israeli media started to talk about lately is the drugs reference, the Israeli league rarely makes drug tests, though a lot of players caught by the media smoking weed in nightclubs or even sniff cocaine! of course the franchise immediately send the player to his way home or to other country who'll accept his staining past, but the reporters say that if the franchise staff have known about weed smoking player, they probably let him stay if he do the job and the media don't know...:o

hehe lol man... professional athletes in Israel do not fight in the army, I mean, every 18 years old Israeli suppose to serve and make some shooting range, jiggle with some m16/IMI Galil and run some miles in the desert but only for Recruit training, that's about 2 mouth if you're not a fighter (like caspi) he probably was in charge of sport events for soldiers or just make some paper work for two or three hours in the morning before basketball practice

I love it how people outside of Israel think that every Israeli was a fighter... there's a lot more paper /computer work in the Israeli army than fighting...

Anyone know what the guy's game is like?

Julian Wright.
just more smarter then hem, and less athletic ability.

he can turn into a 15 minutes player that give you fouls and offensive boards. nothing more then that.

okay the omri casspi's number saga has ended. after the news said he signed with the sacramento and had a deal hes gonna get the number 13, he said hes gonna take the number 18 for sure now cause evans picked 13.
he said he picked the number 18 beacause its means "alive" in israel.

I attended the welcoming party at Marshall park. Like an idiot, I forgot to take my camera. Was a shame too since I was right on the rope up at the stage. When the guys came in, I was about 3 ft from Casspi and got a high 5 from Evans just before they climbed the steps to the stage. The only people in front of me were cameraman.

When Evans, Casspi and Brockman were handed their Kings jerseys to put on for the very 1st time, the place erupted with cheers and applause. Evans in #13, Casspi wearing #18, and Brockman in #40....ahhhh, it was beautiful.

BTW - for all you Kayte lovers........I saw her and not only got a handshake, but she leaned over so we could kiss each other's cheek. (I know her from House Party Live.) We spoke for about 5 minutes. She was not there in any official capacity. Like the rest of us, she just wanted to see the new Kings. Anytime you want an introduction, just let me know. ;)

Welcome, Omri! I'm very glad to see you in my second lovely team ( Maccabi- first) uniform. At least you can show to Americans, that your English much better then Peja's. Don't worry- Israel behind you!!!
