Picked #15.
I have a minor detail question that was hoping one of the contract experts around here might be able to answer. If the Kings offered Mason a two-way contract is he bound to take it due to the Kings owning his draft rights, or because it's not a full NBA contract would he be free to sign a full fledged NBA contract with another team?
Basically we have control over Mason, if we want it. We have to submit a "required tender" by September 6 in order to do that, which is typically a one-year minimum contract. He can sign that, or we can negotiate a better NBA deal. But if he signs it, then we can subsequently cut him and be the only team allowed to sign him to a two-way. However, I think at that point he would be a free agent and could sign a full-fledged NBA contract with another team.
But my guess is that we will sign him to a full-fledged NBA deal.
He is going to have to bring a lot more than last night to guarantee that...
That's what I was thinking... He looked like he didn't belong. He was expected to be one of the more NBA ready players. Some, including myself, wouldn't have been shocked if he looked better than Fox initially. Instead he looked awful. It was only one game but like you said he has to play better. He is going to have to bring a lot more than last night to guarantee that...
