Webber signs with Warriors

Ha! This is going to be such a disaster.

Agreed. The style he needs to be in is in no way what GS uses. Too much up and down the court.

I wish him the best, but maybe this is all that could come up with as far as serious interest? He's signing for the vet's min, so it sure isn't the $$$.

I wonder just how much playing time he'll cut into Al Harrington (fantasy plummet? :() or Matt Barnes.

My guess is that he'll temporarily get time from Harrington, then his incompatibility with the team will be apparent, then he won't get playing time and he'll get some DNPs or 10 minute stints, then he'll complain, and everyone will wonder why in the heck they thought it would work in the first place.

Nellie actually said that only 4 of the 5 players on the court need to be able to run in his system. I think it's a good pickup for the Warriors.

he might actually be helpful when they run offensive sets...he should also fit right in with their defensive (or lack thereof) strategies.

Either way i hope the warriors start losing like crazy

Best of luck to Cwebb on his new team - I am SO glad I don't have to see him in a Lakers uniform!

Time will tell how it plays out, I am not sure about the fit either, but I have to assume that the powers to be in the Warriors organization know more about that than I do. Goodness knows, I don't think anyone could expect him to be quick. A smart player, yes, good hands, you betcha, but they didn't pick him up for speed.

I like the "full-circle" effect of this signing. Nelson and Webber, both older and more mature, find a way to co-exist at the end of their careers? It's a good storyline. And Chris is a good guy. I hope it works out for both of them.

Totally agree.

I also think this is a horrible choice for Webb and the GS.

Webb no longer can get by on just skill and athleticism. His game requires a lot of management and control. He also needs a lot of help on defense. I don't see the Warriors gaining much from this signing. It just looks like a bad situation and because of the hype, there'll be some backlash if there is a drop-off. The West is much too unforgiving this year.

So long as they don't get in our way, I wish them the best.

As sentimental as I am about C-Webb, this signing has me completely dumbfounded (not exactly hard for me to be dumbfounded, however). ;)

It is going to be interesting watching how Nelson uses him and what unfolds for GS the remainder of the season.

Surely Chris will have problems adjusting to GS run&gun play but he can definitely improve their half-court offense with his passing skills. GS players always tended to force some bad and contested shots before so now I think it will be much easier for them to get a good looks with Webber passing from the post. Also he's still a good rebounder for his age.
Good Luck Chris!

hope the warriors do well. webber isnt a bad guy. i think he'll fit in. if the kings dont make it ill be watching the warriors

Odd set of decisions. Im not sure what Webber gets out of the deal other than a trip to the paly offs and a chacne to apear relavent still. GS is hardly an aged CWeb away from a championship so what does he do for them either? Sell some more tix? keep a roster spot warm?

I expected Boston to to try and fill in their depth with Webber or even Clevleland. Oh well I wish Webber the best!:)
