We should've given Honeycutt a chance.

Do you follow?

He was young, athletic, quick, fast, good finisher, capable defender, admitably his jumpshot could've used a little work, but he had TONS of upside. Our biggest need was SF, and we let him slip through our fingers.

What happened there?

As far as I can tell Honeycutt has "slipped through the fingers" of the entire league, gem that he is. I am not worried on this one.

Won't anyone take me seriously? The most he ever played was 7 minutes! He had several injuries that hampered his developement! Give him a damn chance!

i would have played him more. look who's in front of him.. salmons, james johnson, garcia and travis outlaw. wasn't like we were going to make the playoffs anyways at the midpoint of the season.

We're really talking about Honeycutt? We need to get over worrying about bad players on bad teams.

Exactly! I'm hoping some elite playoffs team signs him, he's definitely worth developing, and like many young prospects, he never had a chance under the maloofs.

There are dozens of young athletes warming the benches around the league, and Honeycutt is only good enough to be in the NBDL.

Look, you'll never know how good he is until you watch him play 36+ minutes for 20 straight games. I believe he has potential, and if he cleaned up his jumper he'd already be a starting caliber player. Not a star by a long shot, but a starting player, or at least part of a supporting cast to a star.

If Travis Outlaw, James Johnson are playing over you...you probably aren't any good.

If Francisco Garcia and John Salmons are playing out of position and playing over you...you probably aren't any good.

and finally..

If you can't get minutes with Keith Smart coaching...you are a terrible player.

Thomas Robinson?

the only mistake the Kings made with Honeycutt was drafting him over Chandler Parsons. seeing as how it was a 2nd round pick, though, it's not as bad a black mark.

Frankly, I think his leaving in a trade was a good indication hiss absence would not be a big loss for the Kings.

Honest and blunt answer? Because we're all talking about the present and the future and you're trying to argue about a player who showed absolutely nothing and was part of a trade that brought us some good players in return. If he was that good, he would have found a way to make a place for himself.

I was a fan of Honeycutt's at UCLA. He wasn't my first choice in the second round, Chandler Parsons was, but he did get a few chances and unfortunately he was injured more than he was healthy in his stay here. Twice he was susposed to get substantial playing time in summer league. Once, due to the strike, he didn't, and the last time, he was injured and couldn't compete. Both those misses set him back. I don't think it helped having Smart as his coach, but in the few minutes he did get, he didn't impress. One of Honeycutts problems was that he was 6'8" and only weighed 195 pounds. Everytime he tried to put on weight, he broke something. Sorry, but I don't see him as a big loss. I do however see not drafting Parsons when we had the chance as a loss.

Somewhere, Travis Outlaw is nodding and saying "lol."
