I for one, have never booed at ARCO.
I think a lot of this talk about the lottery balls is to keep things light-hearted in a time where there isn't much to be positive about. (Although, I am sure nobody would be upset if we really did get the #1 pick..)
And I can't speak for the people who do boo, but I think a lot of it doesn't have to do with the fact that the Kings aren't very good, but more with effort. I think everyone knows that we just don't have the personnel, but it's still frustrating to watch players not give 100%.
Although, in the Kings defense, effort hasn't been too big of a problem the last couple games... especially in Dallas.

I have NEVER boo'ed the team at a game. So careful with that large brush of generalizations and assumptions you're painting with.
And I'd rather have a chance at a possible franchise player in the lottery than hang out in mediocreville in the middle for years.
True enough. I like Horford - he reminds me of a younger, smaller Vin Baker which is a compliment as those that remember Bakers first years with the Bucks can attest. At the time I compared him to Kevin McHale. But the operative word in the first sentence is smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if Horford measured out closer to 6'8". That's how he looks to my untrained eye, but we'll find out in Chicago.
A nice player, but the Kings NEED to get a franchise player if they ever hope to be a serious team again. Durant or Oden are my hopes. Brendan Wright gets a lot of hype, but I'm not sold on him as a franchise type guy. I'm not sure if he's closer to Garnett/Bosh or Battie/Moiso.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. Even when it was important that the Kings won games (last few seasons) the games where the opposing team was on a losing streak always scared me the most.

Horford reminds me of sar (in prime), will be capable of 20 and 9-10 in the future but i don't think he could be able to be more then a secondary player.
I know that bosh is young but he is on pace on being the next sar, until a big change.

well that would be nice if it was true, but i tend to be skeptical of the player's team's measurements. they tend to be inflated. anyways, not a big deal.

Fair enough...I was just saying that he would be good to get if we don't suck bad enough to get in the top 4 picks. Of the '2nd tier' big guys in the draft, he isn't bad at all. Petrie might like a guy like Aaron Gray or something, though. He seems very Kaman-esque', minus a couple inches.

I'm just gonna throw this into the thread.
I know our team sucks really hard right now. And it really bothered me at first. But watching Corlis playing his butt off against the Mavs brought back an old feeling. I am NOT going to compare Corlis to Mitch Richmond. Just gonna thank him for giving me reason to keep watching and cheering. Just like back in the old sucky days.
I am also gonna throw an atta boy at Francisco. (you know what 3 of those will get you) He's beginning to look like the player that he was becoming last year. (before he messed up his ankle and embarrased himself)

well unless petrie is picking 15th or something i don't see a reason why he'd pick him. even if he did, he's just another boring white stiff. nothing special at all about him.
i like horford a lot, if i was petrie this is the order of prospects i'd pick in. oden, durant, wright, horford, thabeet (if he declares), arthur (if he declares), noah, jianlian, and then mcroberts. if we can't get into at least that group i'd be pretty disappointed.

I know we should get the pick of the litter, I'm just not sure which tweener the braintrust will have its eye on.

Not to worry. There are still a lot of games to play.
One would have to assume that Petrie is pulling the stops on pre-NBA-draft intelligence work. We don't need one of the first three picks to do well. There have been a lot of lower-ranked gems in previous drafts.
If I were Petrie, I would be clearing the decks of existing players, especially costly ones.

doesn't matter. people think far too short term around here. the cornerstone of the franchise would be set if the kings somehow managed to get oden with the first pick in the draft. you build around him for the next few years, and, after that, you hopefully are able to work your way back to contention with a true superstar for the next 10+ years.
Dominic James, I'm sure. He is like a a cross between Douby and Price, but better than either of them -- and even smaller. The next Chris Paul, or just another shrimpy shoot-first PG (because he's too little to be a 2 in the NBA)? Time will tell...
Obviously, he's the sort of guy that GP would like, but I can't see it happening. Walking out of Arco with the contents of his desk, Petrie would be a sitting duck for the angry mob that would be waiting.
I wouldn't worry about it.

well maybe in his rookie season, but that one hell of a cornerstone to build around and the 2008 draft is going to be smokin as well with scoring guards. the team who builds within the next two drafts (and drafts well of course) will be very well off.

dude, dominic james is the opposite of a shoot first pg. he's a pass first drive and kick kind of point guard. small, but strong and athletic. good defensively, but definitely could use improvement on his shot. if we could come away with a top 3 pick and nab dominic james, that would be f'ing awesome.
I've probably misjudged him, not having actually watched the guy play.
You know how it is sometimes when you just accept things you read on the Internet...
Anyway, James is probably the worst-case scenario, so if people are excited about him, then I guess worst case isn't all that bad.
Nobody's expecting any 6'7" swingmen to go earlier than #8, so we can cross that worry right off the list.

But their future would be incredible brighter, which is the point. Cleveland was still a lottery team after picking LeBron. Do you think they regret taking him?
Yeah, but consider the repercussions. If we got Oden, Arco would be packed every night, and a new arena would become very much more likely.
