Way to go, Detroit!!!

While I don't generally talk about baseball, a chance to rub salt in the wounds of Yankee fans is simply too good an opportunity to let pass.

Nice job, Detroit Tigers!!!!

All that money in payroll and Steinbrenner can't be a happy camper right now.

Sometimes, life is just good.

:p

I caught the the ESPN Ticker saying that theres a rumour that Steinbrenner may have already been fired. They cited the Daily News but I found nothing there.

....Steinbrenner is the owner. Although, I'd fire him if I had the chance. ;)
Way to go Tigers. Too bad your run ends in Oakland...I hope.

LOVED IT! Can't wait to hear Grant on KHTK...he was SO sure that the Yanks were a shoe-in this year.

I love to see the Yankees lose. But it's too bad about Joe Torre, though. I'm sure he'll get another managerial job before long.

Detorit saved us from another round of ESPN giving the proverbial happy ending to the Yankees.

I think Oakland wins the pennant though.

I'll be pulling for the Tigers and Pudge. I've enjoyed watching him win pretty consistently since the Texas Rangers deemed that he wasn't worth the money to keep around. He's only assisted in the resurrection of two terrible teams since (Marlins and Tigers).

The A's have worked hard this year, and they have a lot of RiverCats on their roster right now. So, even though I generally do not root for baseball teams, I'll be cheering on the A's. Plus there's the added bonus of the A's being able to rub it in the face of a certain Giant.

;)

Loaiza was absolute garbage last night and zito before him wasn't too much better. the A's are being outcoached and outplayed. not having our starting shorstop and second baseman is taking a toll as well.

As Charlie Brown would say....."aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh"

Congrats to the Tigers tho, they got hot in the post season and continued to ride that wave.

Fantastic season overall by my boys in the green and gold. They battled through a lotta key injuries to get their division title and get to the ALCS...and just SEEING them in the ALCS was a feat unto itself. Would have wished for a better swan song from Zito wearing the colors, but a hearty thanks to BZ for all he did in the rotation in Oakland, I am a big fan of his. The chapter on the Big Three will now officially come to a close and that's a little sad from a nostalgia perspective.

Were it not for the fact that I CANT STAND Kenny Rogers, I might root for the Tigers in the Series. Have no love for either NL team. So I gotta figure out if I'm gonna empty my locker and get ready for spring training now too or if there is another couple of weeks of baseball left in my viewing plans.

haha! that makes two of us who can't stand kenny rogers. other than him, the tigers got a likeable team.

so you think zito won't be back? i won't really care since he can't ever pitch good in the postseason. remember the manny jack?? also, i wouldn't mind seeing ken macha get the boot. i just don't feel he has what it takes to get to the next level. but you're right at least we got past the alds and revenge on the twins!!!!!!!!

You're right about the Tigers. They seem to be the Destiny's Darlings in baseball this year.

As for the Mets/Cardinals series, I'm not particularly that interested, though I REALLY DON'T want to see any New York-based team have a chance to win any kind of championship.

From a personal standpoint, the only really disappointing thing about the AL series, for me, was that it ruined any chance of a Cardinals/A's World Series. That would've been interesting because of the many former A's on the Cardinals team: pitchers Mark Mulder and Jason Isringhausen, manager Tony LaRussa, pitching coach Dave Duncan, 1st base coach Dave McKay, and General Manager Walt Jocketty.

Detroit is going CRAZY!!! We're in the WORLD SERIES!!! WOOT!!! The Lions even won their first game today! It's euporic here!!! ;)

Sounds like fun, bigdog!!! I bet Tom Selleck shows up for the Detroit games. I remember him being a big Tigers fan, to the point of wearing a Detroit ball cap on and off camera while filming Magnum PI.

:D

Didn't he also take a job as a hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers at the end of the movie where he plays a baseball player in Japan?

Either way, can't blame him...they're good lookin' hats (and probably a lot better looking to the average fan now than a couple of years ago).

I remember that game Zito pitched against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium his rookie year in the ALDS, and I remember the game he pitched against the Yankees in the infamous "slide Jeremy slide" ALDS game 3. That was classic Zito brilliance. And the fact that he OWNS the Texas Rangers. Ownership had pretty much said that there was no chance in hell they could afford him given the market for pitchers last offseason, and after the money that Oswald got midseason this year, the exclamation point got put on that.
