Was Kobe's Food Poisoning Claim During 2002 WCF Legit????????

Hey guys,

I was just wondering... this is something that I wondered on & off since 2002.

We all know about the initial report was that Kobe had food poisoning from a cheeseburger at the hotel. BUT... I remember about 2 weeks after the finals, there was a very very brief mention on Fox Sports on tv saying that there was some type of security footage of kobe at the hotel drinking heavily the night before the game and there was evidence/witness that he was drinking bottles of alcohol.

Alcohol was what caused him to throw up + dehydration and needing IVs etc.

I'm a Kings fan from LA so the media here obviously would not report any details after that. There was no mention of it after that brief report. But what about in Sacramento? Was there any details? If there is any links or if this was discussed before, please point me to the right direction.

uhmm.. can't really believe what this guy says. he was the one that cheated on his wife and bought her a huge nugget to save their marriage.

DIdn't the "eyewitness" fess up and say that it wasn't true? That's what I remember. All reports were that Kobe doesn't drink anyway....especailly in the middle of the WCF.

Yea, I mean if there was no truth to the alcohol report... I'm sure the lakers and kobe's people would have blasted Fox. But lakers never responded to it. Fox didn't report anything about it after and the mainstream on the national level never touched it. I can understand that because of the business TV stations and the NBA/lakers does + commercials etc. Just like they suppress the Tim Donaghy thing.

While no one knows for sure if Kobe is an alcoholic or not, there has been multiple public reports or incidents that points to yes. Within the last few yrs, Kobe was spotted by TMZ multiple times at Vegas bars & clubs drinking. One time he ordered $15,000 worth of Cristal at a vegas club.

Also, we all remember his reference to alcohol when asked about what he is going to do after the game 4 lost to the Celtics in the finals (the one that they blew a 24pt lead at home). Kobe said something like “I’ll need a lot of wine, a lot of shots …. Like 50 of em”.

Hmmmmm

Really?? I seriously doubt Kobe's an alcoholic...please. He might go out to clubs, but he would not go out and get drunk the night before a game in the WCF! You're really reaching if you seriously believe that.

Sowhat if he ordered $15,000 worth of Cristal...I'm sure he didn't drink it all himself!

I've made comments like, "I need a drink"and I've gone out to clubs...and I don't drink. Everyone says things like that.

Hmmmmmm....

Maybe he is not an alcoholic, but I was referencing to your comment of

The fact is he does drink, and often.

As far as why Kobe would drink the night before a WCF game.... who knows? Why would he commit "adultery" after he just had a knee surgery and is suppose to rest? :p Who understands the decisions of young, rich & famous people anyways.

Is this what we're reduced to these days?

I'd make up my own WAG of a reason he got sick, but knowing my sense of humor I'd get myself in trouble :)
